Betts has no love for Salford. He may be a local lad but he's never given a turd about us. His Brother, Darren, was a nice fella who played for us, just not as talented as his Bro.
Which is kinda Salford's story. We always sign the rubbish Brother...

Who can think of anymore?
I was going to add Logan Tomkins and Phil Leuluai but thought that was a tad harsh on them.

Great idea, it deserves a thread of its own. Thinking about it Cas seem to have signed pairs of brothers over the years. Colin and Malcolm Batty, Bill and Eddie Bryant and the Beardsmore twins (Bob and Kevin) More recently we had Jonathan walker but he's now with his twin Adam at HKR.

| It seems one former international coach who has only won 1 in 7,and that at a Championship club, still has support from the club's followers and has 2 more of our players on dual reg/loan whatever

Another coach who hasn't started too well also has support in high places [url=http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/sport/town/super-league-wigan-delighted-with-workington-town-link-1.1137708Opinion of Shaun Wane[/url

An analogy I would use about Salford at the moment is a key ingredient short of a potentially fine dish. It’s all about having the right blend and without this essential element (Pace) it’s not suprising they keep serving us short and it doesn't satisfy our appetites.
Harris has the impossible task of trying to serve up a roast beef diner without having any roast beef, despite having plenty yorkshire puddings, roasted potatoes, vegetables and gravy.
We don’t need seventeen Usain Bolts, 4 or 5 younger and quicker players will suffice for 2015. Johnson has pace and Locke and Ben Jones Bishop will help improve this area next year but we ideally could do with one or two more.

| you will have the back line of;
1.Locke - Fast
2.Johnson - Fast
3.Sau - hardly slow but very powerful
4. - not sure
5. Ben jones bishop - Fast
7. Chase - interesting to see if he can Gell with Sneyd
6. Sneyd - he has a good turn of pace.
Next year you will have good athleticism, speed, creativity and youth and with a good off season i know you will be a lot better next year.
You need to give Harris time its clear he knows how to get a team playing and what is required in terms of work rate for a top 4 team. See out the season and bear with it till it next year.

This is a very fair assessment of the situation, as is Marwan's remarks about the lack of pace. It's been our downfall all season (that and the lack of an on field leader, and of a goal kicker, and of a specialist hooker....Jeez, who picked this squad?). I think our defence down the middle has improved markedly since Iestyn arrived, but there's little he can do about our wide defence. Once the opposition are through, they're away.
Another problem we have is the lack of an on field leader. Since we're in the market for Wigan players (the missing number 4 is rumoured to be Darrell Goulding) can we have Matty Smith back as well? Failing that, I hope Marc Sneyd can fill the role, particularly since he's home grown and fixes the goal kicking problem.
All we need to do is make it to the end of the season without getting relegated. Just suck up the sneering from Widnes and Castleford fans and look forward to next year. It should be the club motto: "There's always next year."

| I tend not to read outrageous sack the coach threads, after he has been here a few weeks with somebody else's team. But thought I would catch up today anyway. After the first couple of pages I had to go back to check if the thread was actually on the Scarlet Turkey and not the Virtual Terrace. The thread was started by a fan of another club, and most of the contributors were from other clubs.
Now I am not saying that some of our fans are not also calling for Iestyn's head, the fact is they are. But things are starting to take shape for next season with our big problem, lack of pace in the backs, starting to be addressed. This team was recruited by Noble, and it was obvious from early days what the problems are. To blame Harris for The poor recruitment of the previous coach is plain stupid. I think Marwan, whilst no rugby genius, knows when his money has not been spent wisely. He has taken what he sees as corrective action, and some agree, some do not agree with this. Me I will wait and see what transpires, and not get caught up with stupid "sack the coach" issues.
I have not enjoyed this season, but then it is quite a while since I did, so I for one will be patient for a while longer.

| Interesting quote from Brown about this weeks match...
"They had a coach who coached them to play one play and then a new one has come in and wants them to play differently. That takes time but they have talented players and will win one soon enough."
Not a great appraisal of Noble, saying he coached them to play just one play. You can see maybe why ditching Noble sooner rather than later was a more viable option. As times passed little bits of info keep floating to the surface to reaffirm MK's decision.

Possibly.
That's the wording on Sky Sports.

| Sorry but i wasn't taking much interest at the time but what was the selection process before Nobby was chosen. Was he on a short list of applicants to be interviewed or was he recommended to the doctor. Its a genuine question and as others have said as more little snippets leak out it seems an increasingly bad decision. It seems to have been a wasted season because of it but Harris is saying all the right things and i think he's as good as any one for next season.

Something's changed then, because you can't stop thinking about us now.
One or two names were mentioned - including Tim Sheens and Peter Gentle - but it's hard to know whether they were ever really in the frame or were just press speculation. I suspect Nobby was recommended to Marwan by Nigel Wood, but there's no way of knowing for sure because, unlike Cas fans who seem to have an ESP link to all their players and to Marwan, we're not able to know what the thinking was.
Some of us were less than sure Nobby was the right man for the job. I was one of them, but I really wanted him to prove me wrong because he comes across as a damn' decent bloke. Sadly, it turns out he probably was the wrong man. Iestyn is now making the right noises, although he's still unproven.
Hopefully, all that's happened is that Marwan's evil master plan for total overlordship of the RL universe has been put back by 12 months.

| I believe the season was jeopardised the moment Noble was informed about Harris being appointed head coach. I think the Doc naively listened to a few underperforming players and acted on impulse. It’s extremely unlikely we would be in this predicament now had Noble still been in charge. Don’t get me wrong I don’t think we would be in the top 6 but I believe Noble would have galvanised 2-3 more wins.
I'm sure Marwan will now realise the mistake and will now regret not letting Noble see out his contract this year. The problem with changing a coach during the season is obvious and we have all seen the negative impact this has had on performances. I think the Doc should have rode it out and then paid the big bucks for an Aussie coach with a proven record of success. It’s nothing personal against Harris who may still come good but it still feels like too much of a gamble for a club with money and ambition.

which included the words -[i “I am grateful for the opportunities that the Dragons have provided me over all my years associated with the Club and would like to thank all involved,” he said in the release. “I’d like to wish Paul and the playing group all the very best.”[/i

Despite all of the opportunities afforded to Mr Noble, and with his press and media relationships Mr Harris has surpassed all of that with this particular press statement - his understanding for the supporters and Dr K is considerate and circumspect in the extreme and has not,and can not,be matched or mastered.

With respect Harris is judged on results and not what he says to the media. I interpret the Harris press statement as buying some time by attempting to win over some people by -
1. Expressing an understanding of how disappointed the owner and supporters must feel.
2. Complimenting the supporters on how vocal we are considering the smaller numbers of us.

Did Brian Noble drive over your cat,or something ?
Bearing in mind the way MK mishandled his exit, not necessarily the decision but the way it was done,I would have thought that Nobles silence is a result and reinforces the guys class
