Says in today's misspelled MEN article that the Dr has brought in Ed Farish, once Chief Finance Officer for the NRL and Graham Lowe. Makes me wonder what role Lowe is playing or will play.

( Lowe ) He ended up CEO of Manly Sea Eagles from 2009 - 2011 , he left the post due to health issues , ( he had a double heart valve bypass op in 2009 after collapsing at Auckland Airport).
He's 66 now , and looks like he's on the After Dinner Speaker circuit in Aus/NZ.
so health permitting CEO , or more likely ' consultant ' .
Ed Farish was Chief Finance Officer or the NRL - June 2011 was sent in to Gold Coast Titans over their incumbent CFO to sort out their financial troubles.

the man employed to sort out this mess is Titans chief financial officer Ed Farish. Farish was the NRL director of finance but resigned to take the Gold Coast job.

Not sure if you have seen League Express but the quote from Blake Solly to 'MEN Sport' in the Barker piece is lifted word for word from there.
I did some googling about Andrew Chalmers the other day and he apparently brought Lowe in at the NZRL as Director of Football so presumably he is behind this move. www.sportsfreak.co.nz/wp/?p=606 - article here. |

If this comes off it is a major coup for Salford and I can see you going in the direction that Warrington have since they got took over. 3-5 years, with the right squad, right coaching staff and right owners and board and there's no telling how successful Salford could be.
Having played for Salford Academy once upon a time I do have a soft spot for Salford and as such I hope this comes off.

Radio Manchester are reporting that he's in negotiation with Salford City Council and Peel Holdings to buy the club [iand the stadium[/i, as if he's going for them both together.
Could just be sloppy journalism, or it could be that things have moved on from the 'buying the club and negotiating an improved rental deal' stage.

One question I would have is would he be buying the ground in the name of Salford RLFC or in his own right?
Strikes me that if it's the latter we could end up in a worse position than we are now if he wanted to change the usage of the site to say football. Might be nice if (I use the word if as I'm not convinced there is much to this) he did buy it that the council use it's part ownership of the ground to insert a clause into the sale that Salford are primary tenants for a specific period.

I think it's extremely exciting. I'm a Wigan fan, but I went to Salford University and introduced my friends to rugby league by bringing them down to the Willows and showing how good our sport is compared to others.
The prospect of losing Salford for good didn't sit right with me. I applaud Dr Koulash's involvment and I hope that in the not to distant future Salford City Reds will in the top 4, consistently.
