BUT, what is the timescale of "the future" - I hope he's being completely realistic about this season, and just how long it takes to bring in new players and build a side that can compete week in, week out!

It can be done, as someone said on the VT, Wigan went from 2nd division to World Club Champions in 6 years - but that was pre salary cap and still took SIX years - it's fine being ambitious and demanding the best - I just hope Dr K doesn't have his ambitions clouded by impatience.

I think the quote last week about this season being a celebration of our existence is a sign that he knows we will get tonked a couple or so more times this year.
I think this is where we are lucky we got Noble as he won't say to the Doc next year were going for a league, play off and cup treble - more he will look for solid improvement with the team making the top eight and being a solid hard to beat team rather than an all conquering behemoth taking the world by storm.

Think also Noble knows the folly of say going out and throwing pots of cash at a couple of show pony players who will disappear when the going gets tough. I bet a good majority of us would happily settle for Salford playing rugby in the Bradford style when he was coach and they were the team to beat.

It seems to be wholly out of context.

In principle Dr Koukash is just reiterating what he said pre takeover.

Read the article, take in what he is quoted as saying and reflect for a few minutes. I think you will then see what a determined individual he is. He takes personal control, he is determined to make us a top team, all positives. The only possible negatives you are focusing on is his "I will walk away" statement. But that has a caveat, which is if he can't deliver what he is promising. So sit back, enjoy the ride, and don't forget most on here bemoaned:lack of ambition, lack of press coverage etc. Well not anymore it would appear, I am more than happy with the ambition and determination shown in the article.

Looks to me like what he's said has been twisted (no surprises there) for another sensationalist article. It doesn't say anywhere that he'll walk if we're not top 4. Rather, it says he would leave if he wasn't 'capable' of bringing success.

Still, it gives the usual lot, who obviously have nothing better to do, a chance to get frothing at the mouth with excitement at the prospect of us failing.

Obviously the MEN making a 'sensation' over something Dr K said. It's very easy to take something out of context and run with it.

The headline is deliberately misleading. Hinting at going. In reality he is saying that he is determined to turn us into a successful side.

Much of this article is either taken from or coincides with an interview in Rugby League World.

The interview there makes it very obvious that he's not quitting: in fact he states that when he says he will succeed, he does.
He does not come over as a quitter: the opposite. He has survived being forced from his home in the 67 war, being a boy soldier in a civil war, realising that his degree was not going to get him his hoped objectives so upped it to a PhD so well that he was asked to become a lecturer, took up horse-racing and became very quickly one of the most successful owners ... all this in the interview
Yes he has not always had it his way but
let's not give up yet.

Does anyone else feel this could be to put a bit of pressure on the RFL & SL about the salary cap? If he leaves that's be another team in crisis. I personally don't think there's anything to worry about. I really don't think he would just leave us high & dry, especially if he gets a piece of the stadium.

Pal I was told the exact same thing by a current Salford employee, he's doing this to the RFL up all the hard work it took to get Marwan into the game undone think they want him leavening any time soon, I think Marwan will get his own way in the end.

I don't think any quit threat strategy is wise in the public domain. What message does that give players the club are targeting for next year? Personally I'd be more than a little nervous commiting my future to any business if the owner was threatening to quit before I'd even joined them. Any threat of pulling out if the caps not raised should surely be made privately to the RFL.

That is exactly right theredshed.......whilst Koukash wants to make Salford a strong club all these threats of quitting and who and who your not signing arn't particularly good for the club. Much better he goes quietly about his business and delivers his promises, at that point bang his drum.

I'm wondering if the Doc comes out with some of the public statements he does what he says behind closed doors to the RFL. His business is business so he must see what a shambolic enterprise rugby league in this country is (you only have to look at the 3rd hair brained scheme for the restructuring of SL for evidence) and it wouldn't in the slightest surprise me if he doesn't instigate changes other than salary cap issues. I'd bet that he'd find a main title sponsor for the flagship competition in a world cup year.
