I thought at the time, why hasn’t Noble dragged Rangi off and given him 10 minutes to calm down. However moments later he produces some magic and creates a try out of absolutely nothing. I think were going to have to accept that at times this season he could do something absolutely ridiculous but will then make up for it moments of pure brilliance.

I loved how up for it our boys looked in the second half though. If we can start with that level of intensity and maintain it over 80 minutes we’re going to trouble a few of the big clubs this season, home and away. It will take a big, strong and tough pack to get one over on our forwards. I also noticed how helpful it was/is having big strong backs such as Meli, Sa’u, Walton and Johnson to help share the workload around when we’re coming out of our own 20.

We were missing 2-3 of our top squad & our two ex Batley boys were good value.

Admittedly he made it sound like there were an even spread of 1st teamers and youngsters, which there wasn't (although its possible for 1st teamers to also be youngsters) but we were also missing S.Grix, P.Wood, M.Russell and B.Harrison who are 1st team shoe-ins!!

not sure waltons a centre and sau looked a bit behind the others fitness wise, johnson gotta start the kids got it!!!!!!! not sure me starting 13 anymore lol

Over the two pre season games I'd say our strongest backline was Mullaney , Johnson , Gleeson , Meli , Sau ,
Williams still looks half paced , Meli is best used in the Centres.
Walton done enough to last night for me to understand why Noble signed him.

and we weren't playing M Gleeson , Gareth Hock & Steve Rapira .
match fitness & team structure still need work , warrington loaded the RH side with power plays for their early trys , won't be as easy next week or later in the season , it was a pre-season game all in all .

couldnt agree more walton is a cracking signing runs well and tackles strong but cant see him as a centre, for me gleese and maybe melli play centre johnson on the wing then i aint sure cos williams has a lot to prove

Said it all along anyone who finishes above Saints will win the league for me. Think Warrington might be light of an on field leader now Briers, Carvel and Morley have gone and think that Wigan will miss Tompkins more than more realise.

I think you're right about us possibly missing a leader on the field, although Monaghan, Hyam and Westwood have it and without wishing to wind anyone up Ratchford and Myler will be expected to do their bit and some more this season.

Enjoyed the friendly, a bit of a game of two halves for me and we saw the good and bad of Rangi which seemed to get everyone at it. Plusses for both sides although we could wax lyrical about how we managed to be nilled second half on the back of a couple of decent sets at the mid point...one man's squandered opportunity is anothers great defence, in reality it's probably a bit of both

I cant either Hull club making the top 8 and I really fancy Castleford to be the surprise package of the season. They've assembled a big squad with some good players in the mix, I reckon Powell will have them working hard together and will grind out some big results.

Re Warrington, whilst they've lost bags of experience in Briers, Hodgson, Morley and Carvell I expect Westwood to step up and Roy Asotasi will be a crucial signing. He looked top quality on Wednesday night and I imagine he'll have a big impact this season.

God I hope Cas don't get anywhere close to the 8, I'd hope they are cellar dwellers and Snyed aside struggle.
