Greg Johnson & 6th. Would hope we're good enough not just to scrape into the 8 but too pessimistic/sane to think this could be the start of something big! Think 5-8 might be decided by a very close margin as most squads look stronger last year.

its hard to look past the wingers for top scorer, and I think we will be 6th. Feel positive this season especially with the right man at the helm and the depth we have, almost every position has decent cover. cmon solly!!

Only j Charnley & J Monaghan have been able to regularly post mid 20's - 30 SL try totals.

Ashley Gibson * Stuart Littler remain the only two Salford players to reach 16 for the season.
With tighter matches & harder defensive structure it is even harder for one player to dominate the try scoring charts.

Francis Maloney early 2000's? I remember him scoring plenty one season.

Francis Maloney is our top SL season try scorer - 19 try's in 2001 , with Nick Pinkney also contributing 14 that year.
Other notable totals were Mark Johnson's 15 try's in 1999
and the McAvoy 14 - Rogers 15 -combination in 1997
other than the Littler / Gibson totals previously mentioned
Jodie Broughton is the only back who's scored consistently for us with 53 SL trys in his 4 seasons :-
12 SL trys in 2010 & 14 SL trys in 2011 and 15 SL try's in 2012 and 12 SL trys in 2013.

Blimey Middleman, that'd quite an illustrious group we're with there! I think 2 of them only had 1 year in SL and 3 of them 2 years. And maybe Sheffield Eagles shouldn't be on the list as try should count Huddersfield's 20+ man (men?) as they merged?

Don't know on the try scorer but i'll go somewhere 5th-8th for your finishing position. I can't see how any one can predict any team to a single finishing position. This season will be incredibly tight with a single refs decision or an awkward bounce of the ball costing vital points. The sport is becoming more and more brutal and a good depth of competent SL standard players is vital to combat the unavoidable injury crisis that every club will have at some time in the season.

The Magic weekend will have a major effect this year. It is predictable that Saints and Wigan will be in the top four. Saints and Wigan will play as if they are in a grand final to "break away" from the rest of the league at the expense of Leeds and Warrington. "4" pointer matches.
Our game v Widnes will be another "4" pointer.

So, whereas the season is difficult to predict, the "joker" thrown in by the Magic Weekend, will make it far more difficult.

In this season where supposedly every game counts, can the uneven field of the Magic Weekend fixture still be justified? Yes it's a jolly boys outing but with more at stake this year then I would suggest not (as we are playing Saints)

As to where Salford might finish 5th or 6th for mine with a good cup run. Top try scorer no idea you've got a decent back line but I've no idea what style you'll play in a go to man sense like we play to Monaghan.

Officially S'Huddersfield didn't have a 20+ try scorer.

Even Gateshead managed a season ( Winger - Matt Daylight 20+ )before they ' Merged ' with FC

London/ Harlequins Managed it through Luke Dorn

Wakey through Ben Jefferies & Sid Domic

Widnes have come close - Adam Hughes - Paddy Flynn with 19. in their 7 SL Seasons

but Salford head into their 17th Super league season still awaiting a 20+ SL try scorer

Let's hope this is the year then.....
