I think you're close to the truth on that one.

I'm unsure whether Sports clubs in general have contingencies for this type of event, or whether they just wing it. With all the legal repercussions surrounding contracts, breach of contracts, and disciplinary offences it could be a delicate area for a Club. Cas could always do what MK did with Hansen and Chase and just release them, but I'm presuming that Carney wasn't searching for a way out of his contract to go elsewhere, so may not be an option. That would leave Cas having to pay-off the remainder of his contract which would be considerable, hence the need for someone to purchase him/swap him. Money is definitely the issue for all parties concerned here.

Carney was recalled to the first team following Cas' investigation, as it isn't against employment law to have an affair therefore they couldn't sack him. Carney signed a 5 year contract a year ago, which is worth a substantial amount and he is adamant that they provide him with a pay-off if they want him gone. Who can blame him? I was told Carney had agreed to sign for us a week before the season ended, so it just shows how complex the whole thing has been. Hopefully we're not far off announcing him. I would love to see him in a Salford shirt.

This Konrad Hurrells guy is 24years old. 6'00'' tall , and 17st 5lb, don't know what pace he has but looks quite a handy Centre.
Just watched his highlights on YT he has got pace, just the centre we could do with, AWESOME

Yep , trouble is we always go shopping in Aus / Nz for a Konrad Hurrell, or a Jamie Lyon , but bring back a Greg Ebrill or a Michael Neil .

We'll be odds-on to sign his Brother I'm sure... We always sign the less-talented, non-Rugby playing Brother.

I do not understand the loan part of this. Is he on a trail deal with us or does it work better for SRD financially

My understanding is this:
Carney is not welcome at Cas, particularly the playing squad who have cut all ties with him en masse.
This issue has come at a time when most SL clubs are unable to accommodate him in the salary cap (without using the marquee player rule) or due to the fact they have already signed their quote of non-federation trained players for 2016.
Salford are able to accommodate him, but Carney rejected a permanent move. He has agreed to join on loan on the basis that the clubs who couldn't accommodate him for 2016 will be able to the following season. Salford see this as an opportunity to sign a very good player for 2016.
I expect him to be signed early in 2016 by a club for 2017, a la Scott Taylor.
Decent solution for Cas, given the timing of the issue.
Decent player for Salford for 2016.
Carney gets to move to a better club in 2017 if he chooses to.
