| I asked this on social media before and I'll ask it again: Would you rather have Dudson on a permanent deal or Scott Taylor for 12 months? I reckon Scott's the better player but he's homesick so is almost certainly going to be leaving us in 10 months (lets not pretend otherwise). With that in mind, Id rather have Dudson. Hard to plan for the future and get excited about a signing when by this time next year we know he'll be training with yet another club.

Hull owner said on Radio Humberside tonight that Scott Taylor is signing for you for one year only, which he said should be interpreted as good news for FC fans. His family in Hull say that he has signed for Hull FC for 2016 and that now seems to be confirmed. Good signing for you guys for next year though!

So Hull FC's unofficial spin doctor is stating on a public forum that his club have broken the anti-tampering deadline by several months.

You can't break the anti tampering deadline if both clubs/agents/players have agreed the deal... Which they have

Taylor. Dudson is very, very ordinary. Why sign a player who, unless he shows some massive improvement, isn't likely to improve the team? I don't think the one year deal is a problem either, since anything could happen in that time. For example, what if Sam Burgess doesn't settle at Bath and wants to play Rugby again?

| Taylor is ten times the player Dudson is. He's got plenty of improvement in him as well. He probably just lacks a bit of aggression, if he had that he'd be a top line international.

I'd be more concerned about whether bringing in a player who we know is not staying with us could hinder the development of the others who we have more of a vested interest in developing (Walne, Menzies, Forster) - in effect, we're developing a player for Hull. Unless of course we're going to do a Cas and do everything we can do to get a loanee to change plans.

| I think this has a bit of a worry about it. It's one thing to take a player on loan who's intention is to get back to his home club and needs to prove his worth to achieve that.
But IF Taylor has already signed for another club for the following season, then other than keeping fit where is the motivation and committment to perform coming from?

I worry that he will just coast through the year until he can head home.
And as someone else has said it is a bit of a kick in the teeth for the other young players who are already on the books, they might find themselves behind him for a season. which for me potentially stifles their growth and desire.
As a result I can see one of the younger players going out on loan for the season to the Championship. Not entirely sure if possible but to Bradford or London would be ideal as every team will up their game when they play them, maximum competitive edge each week.

| Happy with this signing. Regardless of length of contract.
We'll see in twelve months time where his future lies. In the meantime, we have ourselves another good forward which was needed.

Sneyd didn't coast through his season loan with Cas , he went out of his way to prove what a big mistake his previous club had made & put himself in the shop-window for a new deal & possible representative selection.
Taylor got England Knights call up in 2013 , i would expect him to want to get himself back in contention next season.
He is also working with his old Scrum Half from Hull KR & his ex assistant coach from Wigan.
Yes He's Ginger but so was Craig Stapleton .
For the Other Props in contention , well the bar just went up another notch , and if they push for selection this year two - three of the props will have moved on or retired by 2016.

Unless a player is so close to the end of his career he'll see out his days with you, every player on your books is potentially being developed for another club. That applies to all clubs, including Wigan.
I'm not sure that it'll have too much of an adverse effect on the development of the players you name either. We had too few props last year, and with Walne missing most of the season with injury, then Tasi suspended and Griffin injured, we were sometimes going into games with just two out and out props. What we've got now is a bit more strength in depth in that position. Prior to this signing, though, what we didn't have was enough tried and tested props; the ones you would want playing in most games as the younger players develop.
The only real concern I have is that we've now got three props (Morley, Puletua and Taylor) on, effectively, one year contracts, so we'll be scrabbling around for three more props this time next year. It's a similar situation to what we had at the start of last season, but at least this time we've got a few younger players coming through.

Some of those younger players came from the Championship though, so I can't see what would be gained by sending them back there. Also, as we saw last season, prop is a position where you need plenty of depth, and with three of our front line props being in the twilight of their careers, I think it's a fairly safe bet that some of those young players will feature in the first team quite a few times next year.

| Was it Scott Taylor that scored a 60m try against us 3/4 seasons back at The Willows or am I getting him mixed up with Rhys Lovegrove? I remember thinking at the time "f*ck me, this kid is quick for a prop"!
FWIW, a Pie fan in work seems to think we're getting their best front rower. Young, British and plenty of ability... he'll do for me!

They only see it from their point of view. Here's some examples from said fans...
'Why would he ever want to leave Wigan? Is he mad?'
'He'll fade into obscurity now...'
'He can't possibly fulfill his potential now he's not at Wigan.'
'He'll just sulk at Salford now.'
'He'll still be homesick down the road.'
'This sale has really derailed his chances of bringing together Israel and Palestine.'
etc etc
The point being that fans are always full of ideas about why, but very few are are actually in charge of facts.
The way I see it is if Harris is wants him for the season, MK pays a nominal fee (Pocket change as we know), and Taylor gets game time in a season he wasn't going to at Wigan. Everyone's a winner here. There's no losers. Wigan get a fee and offload a wage and player who wants away. Salford get the extra prop they want. If he is Hull bound at the end of the season then they get a fit player for no fee.
I fail to see who's shafted here.

His 1st full season was 2011 I think , he was responsible for Hull KR's win against us in April 2012 where he walzed over for two short pass tries in the last 10 minutes.

and there's more ..
Quote "joined the less professional environments of Salford and Hull."
"definitely expect him to fade back into obscurity playing for Salford and later Hull FC"
"Taylor will struggle getting into the England team playing for a club ( Hull FC ) that may be in the second division when he joins them"
"Career suicide"
"His form was appalling for major parts of last year and now he's ended up having to sign for Salford"
"It may be easier for him to stand out in a poor team"
"presumably is that he'll carry on sulking, only now on Salford's time rather than ours."'"
I think when it comes to feeling shafted by Wigan , I've a guess Parramatta would be in that queue before us , ( Paid up for Mossop, Paid to fix both his shoulders up , plays three games then walks straight back to pieland.)
after Phil Bailey & Feka's 1st season , if Taylor makes it onto the pitch and lasts more than 10 minutes a spell he'll be classed as one of Salford better signings from our beloved neighbours

| Amazed Pies don't want him........definitely the best loan signing we ever had from them, TOP player. Is he definitely returning to Hull KR in 2016, or is it that he wants to move back to Hull, and play for a club 'nearer home' ?

| Why are Wigan fans getting excited over the undisclosed fee we've paid for Taylor? Do they think it's anything more than a few grand really.
Great signing though, even if it is for just one-year before he joins Hull. Big talent.

| The interesting thing could arise if Salford stay in the Super League and Hull FC miss out in 2016.
Long shot but Taylor no doubt signed a SL contract and maybe becomes a Free Agent - like Westerman & Sneyd.

| Why would we need to pay a fee to Wigan? He signed for 2 seasons with an option for a 3rd so surely it is up to him if he stays for that 3rd season?
I can't see anyone in SL having a better pack than us next season, just hope that HH, Hock and Hauraki stay on the field together as I can only see them destroying other teams out wide.
