| Quote ="Iain"Was Owen injured or dropped? Very harsh of dropped as Godwin looked lacking in sharpness.
The ref was dreadful, but our defence for the last two tries was even worse. We should have won that game comfortably but failed to build on any position that we got - let's hope we don't have to play in rain again.'"
Ive heard OWEN was dropped for this game to make way for Godwin....VERY harsh considering the way he has played and his contribution...4 tries, numerous breaks, good defence.
I hope this kid does'nt beat himself up about his exclusion I am sure he will be back soon.
Godwin...VERY average on yesterdays performance, one scoot from acting half, limited defensive qualities especially when there prop ran right over him to score under the sticks...worthy of a recall ??

I would be very dissapointed if Owen was dropped. He has been one of the bright sparks this season, and i feel he was just what was needed yesterday. His runs from dummy half was just what was needed to get that game going yesterday, and his tackling this season has been superb. Why was Longy up on the gantry instead of on the touchline ????

| Quote ="red13pjb"Who were the only team to make a line break from their own half yesterday? Who was the only team to score a try by throwing a long pass to the winger? HKR scored three tries, one was a mile offside at the kick and two were barge overs from ten yards out against a tiring defence and yet we were clueless apparently. The game was played in incessant rain with a ball like a piece of soap, of course the lads didn't throw it around like they have at other times.
As for the penalties, are wer the only team not square.....or offside.......or holding down? Dobson should have been binned in the first half for holding down Gleeson after our 4th clean break from our own half (btw he would therefore have been off when he made the kick for their first try). The penalty that breaks the game however is the one for a ball steal when Wellham just dropped it. They scored from that penalty...game over!!!
I am not claiming that we are not guilty but we got pulled 8 times for not square against Wigan.......on good friday I watched Saints get away with it time and again against the same opposition.....why? Because they are one of the big 4 & must not be penalised especially on big games as it spoils the flow of the game doesn't it.
Y we were poor compared to other games this year but a like perspective needed!
Also the crowd, people at the club are not happy about the crowds being published....they are certain there are more in the ground than is being announced. My sister works in the ticket office and is gobsmacked at some of the figures when they come out (particularly the Leeds and Wigan games). Yesterday, there was a very poor following from hill billy land, no more than 700 in my estimation. So if the published figure is correct that means 4300 reds fans on a horrible cold wet bank holiday. The negativity of some fans is more damaging than the performances at times and now is not the time. If we got behind them more instead of slagging them off perhaps we can lift them a bit. We need to pull together.'"
If 700 is a poor following, please give me a word in advance to describe the following you will bring to Craven Park later in the season. Perhaps pathetic will suffice?
There is no way on earth there was 5,000 people in that ground yesterday. As I was stood with the "hill billy's" I am not best placed to estimate our following, but the 3 other sides of the stadium looked about 3,000 tops. It's a shame, but the logistics of your ground are perhaps not doing you any favours, its a to get to.

considering it was our 2nd away game in 4 days 700 is a pretty good following and seen as you only took half that to huddersfield and you will bring your usual 50 to our ground from the salford slums you cant really comment can you

That might work as an insult if none of us had ever been to East Hull amd experienced it first hand.
"Hill billys", "slums", can we cut out the pointless insults and just discuss the match and everything around it in a sensible manner for once?
As it stands I reckon KR had more than 700 there, but I'm still finding it hard to judge a crowd at the new place. The attendance announced sounds about right to me.
Less said about the game the better, both sides were equally awful but as we don't have any real pace or power going forward we ended up suffering for it.

Great observation. Doesn't detract from having to shell out £23 a ticket on Friday ,followed by £20 on Monday, with no home game. It's been an expensive Easter for me & many other hill billies, I might have to sell a kidney if we have a Challenge Cup run........

I'm sorry we can't offer top class accomodation at this stage, but I'm sure you understand these things take time, given your own club's recent experiences. In 2013, our new North Stand will open, I look forward to it welcoming hoardes from your club.

Can anyone explain why the RFL don't take the radical decision of playing one home, one away, one home, one away - think you get the drift.

| The conditions were by far the biggest factor in this game.
It was impossible to play expansive rugby and it was always going to be an arm wrestle.
Referee was far too fussy IMO. Thought he'd handed the game to you with those 5th tackle penalties that led to your try but in the end you couldn't defend your own line and Rovers could. That was the difference.
There were about 1,000 Rovers fans sorry if you are disappointed with that. With food, drink, programmes etc that's about £20,000 us hillbillies have put in your coffers. Why not send it to Bradford if it's too inconsequential for you guys?

| I was pleased young Owen was rested.I don't think young players should be allowed to burn themselves out and the nearest example I can give would be that fella called Rooney who wanted to play every game and 2 managers,Moyes and Ferguson, restricted him.
Although this game could have been played at a cemetery or on the moon as the crowd was dead and there was no atmosphere, there is still unnecessary and unhelpful pressure put onto the home players.
It would be best for the young players to be introduced away from home.
Our players needed the home support for a spark. They were physically and mentally drained. At Huddersfield McPherson had his thigh heavily strapped,Wild still has the lbn covering elbow, going onto forearm and bicep.
Ashurst came back onto the field wearing a head bandage.
Before the game the programme revealed we are the second highest in the league for missed goals.
So psychologically KR have the advantage. They then score when offside from the kick reminding us all of our disallowed try against Wigan and after our own players fault for the first couple of penalties the referee decisions get ever more bizarre and after an extensive amount of defensive work we then don't defend.
Awful weather.Awful referee.Awful display.Awful result.Awful day.
I did notice that the club with the wonderful owner, wonderful board, wonderful Labour MP who accepted a Lordship, wonderful coach, wonderful players, wonderful car park, wonderful car park attendants, wonderful access to the stadium, wonderful egress from the stadium, wonderful stewards, with the wonderful Halliwell Jones who sells wonderful German cars, that's the wonderful Germans who didn't just try to halt the wonderful game of rugby league all those decades ago but who killed lots of British people but people are able to move on,that wonderful Warrington, just like SCR,conceded over 40 points in France,so perhaps in sport there is winners and losers and with well over half a season to go,and a cup run available, all is well.
We may even start getting decent officials at our games !

| My comment of a poor following was designed to get that reaction from the dullards that frequent Craven Park as for years now on this forum they have been telling us that they take 20,000 everywhere with them. As for Salford slums, at least our fans know what toilets are used for unlike both Humberside clubs. I suppose I should be grateful for small mercies, at least the HKR fans made it out of the stand before peeing where they shouldn't although I don't see why my 2 sons under 5 and my 2 nephews under 7 should be subjected to the sight of grown men urinating in the car park!!!! Hill Billies.... I stand by original statement!!!!

Why pick on a Salford fan of over 50 years' support?

That's a pretty big brush you like to spread your tar around with pal. For the record, I travelled with my wife and father-in-law, didn't pee anywhere and put (between us) £55 into your clubs coffers. I won't accuse all Salford fans of being ungrateful whinge bags, just you.

Here we go again, the same old excuses from the same people about only going to away grounds with proper facilities.
Some of us have been going to away grounds for the last 30 years or more and can honestly say that, despite visiting some right dumps over that period of time the state of the grounds have always been secondry to watching the team.
If you are a real supporter then you will follow them to the moon if nescesary, using the state of a ground as reason not to go is a very sorry excuse imo.

Agree entirely you support your team through thick and thin, but it would be nice to just get a home ground for a change, not much to ask for really.!!!!

| There is always an exception that proves the rule. My opinion is formed on not one but many bitter experiences. I will not be going to Craven Park not because of the poor facilities or lack of cover or the cost of getting there or getting in. I will not be going (as I have not gone for about 15 years now) because it is one of only 2 places in RL that I have ever been scared... the other being HULL FC. I feel genuinely sorry for the the real decent fans of both Hull clubs but there are more than the fair share of idiots who watch and play rugby in that city!

Hull FC brought 1800 on a Friday night. Proper fans.
