| DI, why is the term "do-gooder" such a serious insult in your vocabulary? Don't you want the team, the club , and the supporters to do well?
If its Veivers, I feel that this is a marriage of financial constraints and the need to salvage a holed ship before it sinks. So let's give him and the directors a chance and not destroy the attempt by undermining the efforts.

| IMO not the man to take us forward don't think he's ready but he's exactly the yes man the club wanted, now we have an average coach with an average team in an average new stadium the ''do-gooders'' on here sum up the club you're the kind of fans the club want, everything they do is wonderful unfortunately I don't think things aren't going to work out and I hate to say it but when it goes spectacularly wrong I can't wait cause it will be the biggest wake up call this club has ever had, it may be to late by then.

| and who was in charge on good Friday?
so is recorded is bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
we must go for a outsider, not someone who says YES to Simms
this maybe the last chance to save our club, in 3 years with a yes man & Simms we will be out of suprt league!!!!!!

| Wouldnt matter who we appointed to be frank - the club desperately needs big new investment to be up with the big boys otherwise we have to be grateful for whats put in front of us. It's a major worry.

Are you certain ? for starters Kevin Penny wore a wakey shirt last season.
And you signed Jeremy Smith

| Good luck to Vievers but I'm not exactly enthusiastic about his appointment. Salford need radical change from the outside, top to bottom and I can't see Veivers managing that. Also get the feeling that this is convenient for Simms as he can now claim to be an experienced head guiding a rookie HC through his first year.
Another season of dross awaits I'm sure anyway.

So what you're saying is you'd rather the club went bust/disappeared just so you can be proved right and the "do-gooders" (whatever that means in this context) are proved wrong?
I'm not at all happy with the way things are progressing (like everyone else who posts on here - "do-gooders" and "doom-mongers"icon_wink.gif but I'm hoping that the club directors and managers manage to turn it around before it is too late and will cling to that hope because it's the only option we, the fans, have unless we can scrape the money together to buy the club

At the moment on here it does feel a bit like the special school teacher's left the kids alone and they've somehow managed to hook the BBC Micro up to the internet.

| If, and/or when confirmed, it will prove that as a Club we have no money, no ambition and no intention of changing the culture of mediocrity that plagues us.

| This appointment doesn't surprise me at all and if I'm being honest I don't have a problem with Phil taking over. The players seem to like him and be on his side instead of fighting against him and that's half battle won IMO. I know player power shouldn't dictate who's in-charge but, if you have a good relationship with your team your more likely to get that extra 10/20% out of them. So IMO a good choice.

| some of the comments on here, must have been the same with the intorduction of the spinning mule, the luddites are still out in force, look lads, lasses if you are not happy do what they did in Wigan when the price went up to £5.50, get a banner stating your point and stand outside the ground every match. In Wigan's case the banner read won't pay more than a fiver for Rugby League.
What would your banner state:-
"Sims otu"
"Mat Paris fore couch"

| Before the usual suspects come on to tell us how this is proof that the club is going to hell in a handcart, I'd like to be the first to say that I think this is good news. For me, the team showed enough improvement under him last year for it to have been a bit of a surprise he didn't get the job first time.

| Hm, points conceded whilst Veivers was in charge 517 including a 60-0 loss to Wire at home, 52-20 at Cas and 52-22 at Shudds also got nilled at home off HKR, won 9 lost 11 or summat like that.
The wins included beating Wire on there home turf which was an obvious high point and smashing Bradford...unconvinced anythings gonna change really and we really needed it too this season.

| One year deal seems sensible enough. Gives the club enough time to find a proper replacement for 2013 if he doesn't cut the mustard next year.

| Was the most obvious choice to settle a very rocky boat. Under the current circumstances, probably the right choice for the time being.
Good Luck to the fella.

| I'm not surprised, would an experienced coach such as Noble or Kear be willing to work under someone with Simms reputation?
Goulding would do a Parish and open his mouth.
Vievers is a safe pair of hands and will be seen as a yes man, he wont be telling people to keep out of the changing rooms or telling certain players who are gloating on twitter to lose weight.
The club have shot themselves in the foot, again.
