| With the move to Barton , Eccles ARLFC will be on the New Stadium's doorstep closely followed by Irlam Hornets and Cadishead Rhino's , we cannot afford to lose any future prospect whatever the reason.

| 'ecmmcles produce the best open age team' From where I'm sat, no they don't, not any more. The current team consists of a number of players from other local clubs. The good youth setup has in my opinion has long since disappeared. All th good work in my opinion is being done at Irlam and Cadishead in that part of the world. Folly u18 are a good team, well coached and acredit to our area, they are well worth going to watch.By the way I am not associated with Folly.

What like yours?
You my friend are talking out of your ar*e, having started off at Eccles and moving over to Folly I can easily say Folly are the better run club hence why they are able to run a full youth section, two open age sides and are able to organise trips abroad (Perpignan and Prague amongst others). Eccles have always concentrated on their conference side and never really bothered about the youth side of things a prime example of this happened when I played there, my dad got all new water bottles, sponges, medical equipment etc for my age U9's at the time and we never even seen it, it was all given straight to the Open age.
I'm not for minute having a go at Eccles, but just pointing out that they're not the force they once were in Salford and Folly Lane are the strongest club in the area.

| i personally feel eccles have struggled to cope with the loss of john mcatee, he seemed to be the engine of eccles as he has to be one of the best scrum halves i have seen in the ametuer game.
Folly have suprised me they have a youthfull team with a few older heads but have adapted well and been impressed with what i have seem from them.
Langworthy started well this year but have dropped again but i believe there youth policy is very strong.
Irlam are doing well and should gain promotion again this year but the season aint over yet.
Cadishead are a yo-yo team they can play some brilliant rugby but win some hard matches and get beat by easy teams but are working very hard with the youth policy.

Much closer to Wigan and Leigh though ... still not 'a local lad that we missed out on' as some were suggesting.
And besides, he's one that Alan Hunte DID spot the talent in.

I'll tell you why this lad wasn't scouted, its due to the sheer folly bias in the Salford academy ranks with lee spencer (jack spencer's dad) one of the main academy coaches put pete carey and Sam Rainford there (all folly coaches) even though our current national confrence team is EsJ they don't get a sniff? Saying that Salford have never been interested in Eccles A.R.L.F.C actually apart from ian watson i can't think of one salford player coming from the eccles club? Disgrace really when you think eccles produce easily the best open age team in salford, well what's salfords loss is wigans gain, i know payden well my youngest brother went to school with him, and if you asked him face to face would he like to play for the reds he'd snap your hands off! But if Alan Hunte isn't going to bother setting foot at this lads amature club then i say good luck at Wigan payden they'll look after you their.'"
Think Nathan Mc Avoy played at Eccles then Salford before the bulls payed a massive transfer fee for him, according to the bulls old programmes.

He was and he was a good prospect who made a significant contribution at the club but how many years ago was that? Highlights the problem that we have at grassroots level. We produce a handful of players every decade and most of them go to other clubs.
As other posters have said, a lot of good work is being done in Irlam & Cadishead at present. Go down to Lords St any Sunday morning and you will see junior rugby of all ages. Many of the lads are relatively inexperienced at playing the games and often end up on the wrong end of the scoreline but if the level of committment and dedication can be maintained (easier said than done) the results will come.
Folly are the best run CLUB and Eccles have the best TEAM.

| I have to say i dont think folly are the best run team, i think eccles are but i think eccles are getting caught up by many others now playing wise, they had the best team around a few years ago but like irlam as soon as age caught up with them they have started to slow down again, years ago i remember everyone wanted to play for eccles that was it but its not like that at all anymore, i dont think their coaching staff are very good after losing murray and the team have slacked off.
But no doubt they will get back up there.
