| Rumour is rife in the game that many of Catalan players are totally sick of all the travelling and are looking to move on. Could explain their poor form this year?

| Quote ="Reds1982" I like the comment about "a future captain" as I think's he's one of the best players we'd had for a while

Can't think of a better option that Adamson, he's home grown talent, has a history with the club and fans and above when he is anything like his best he is without doubt just about the best 2nd rower we have at the club. He also seems to be very media savvy and highly unlikely to get himself into bother either on or off the pitch.
Not got a clue who will be captain next season but thiunk there will be a clamour for Patten or Houdlsworth but think either would be a poor option, we need to have someone who has been with the club for a while and has built a rapport with both the players and the fans in the shed.

| I think the club will go for a more experienced captain like Rob Parker who's got international experience and won all the major trophies, including the World Club Challenge. And he's local also coming from the Tyledsey/Astley area. I have no doubt that Mal will have some influence on his successor.

| Having a good rapport with the shed is not something you are looking for in a captain ??????? Rob Parker not on the field enough does little game time, and missed a few games this year. A good idea is to name after about 4 weeks training to see who the leaders are, who are disciplined and who gets the respect and then take it from their .

The same could be said about Adamson.
Let's also not forget that Parker was number one choice when Malc was temporarily relieved of the captaincy whilst the club were investigating the problems in Jacksonville a couple of years ago.

| For me the next captain has to be Holdsworth, he gets the players round the park and will probably make him a better player than he already is, if Andrew Ryan signs then it will be him

| Rob Parker cannot surely be captain.
Tremendous pro but,if his contract had been up this year,I don't think he would have been retained.
Not an easy choice for skipper.
If Holdsworth has had captaincy experience,he would be the logical one.

| Adamson is a great shout for me, he's the future of the club, he's an intelligent lad (as well as a clever RL player) and very articulate so great for facing the press, a real leader on the park as well, however if we do manage to land Andrew Ryan, then he'd be first choice, Holdsworth would be great but I'd rather he concentrates on what he does best and not have to worry about the rest of the team so much, what about Patten?

| Ryan's already confirmed he's going to see out his contract with Canterbury.

Yeah I've read that but according to this weeks league express our offer is still there and he/his agent hasn't signed it or turned it down.

| I wouldn't mind seeing Ryan here next season and hopefully, with Patten and Holdsworth, the temptation may to be too great to turn down. Failing that Webb would be a very classy second choice.
Does this mean, and sorry if its obvious, that J Smith has not been offered a new contract as that would be the only overseas spot left to fill? If that's the case then I know a few people who will be over the moon but it's a shame since he did seem to be improving in his new role. Either way Ryan or Webb would be an improvement
