I never suggested the previous mob should have attempted to get a coach of the calibre of Sheens. The mentality I alluded to was a mentality that pervaded appointments and behaviour throughout the club and not just the coaching set up.

Was the behaviour you allude to not influenced though by financial constraints?

Little point in getting bogged down in the debates of the past but no I would say it was more influenced by the Chairman's outlook on things and I would say the club used that as an excuse for their consistent poor performance for years and years.

Interesting interview - I'm not so sure about saying things like "I promise supporters this won't happen again" - rather a hostage to fortune that kind of statement (a bit like Fekka promising a top 8 finish).
IMO it's inevitable that we'll see a few more tonkings this season and although Dr K obviously understands the gap between where we are now and where we want to be (and where he's taking us!) I think the "promise" in the interview is a little hollow.

I'm not so sure the promise was meant regarding the score line but more the performance against a team who were in the exact same position as us. I'm sure if it had been a Leeds that put us to the sword he wouldn't have reacted that way.

I don't think Phil Veivers can be blamed for being overlooked for a coaching position.The other Australians appointed at other clubs,Sandercock and Gentle,aren't setting the world on fire at the moment.Perhaps if they had the easier task of organising the Australian national side they would do better.
I don't know if in your view it is the,'anyone but Veivers cos he's a choice of the previous regime' so any other coach will do,but Sheens doesn't exactly walk on water from what I have been able to glean from the interweb.
As I suspect you would prefer anyone but Veivers , haven't made any enquiries as to whether or not Sheens can build a club from the bottom up - but I know a person who can and he will probably know all about Sheens.

I haven't,of course,checked on his stress leave from North Queensland Cowboys because it must have been far more harrowing than what the coach who was overlooked for the coaching job has had to endure at Salford,but here is the final link and for an experienced coach the comments are scathing

I,of course,do not want Phil Veivers to be a 'decent sort doing an average job in difficult circumstances'.I think he has done,and will continue to do,an excellent job,and in circumstances which will become easier,I hope.

I think it goes to show that everyone has an opinion and sometimes they vary greatly. Reading Wests fans comments you get both ends of the scale:

I feel sick to the pit of my stomach posting on this matter but if an Antipodean is to be appointed prising Dean Bell from his current position may make me feel slightly less emetic while hoping Phil Veivers finds another role that he enjoys.

Reading today in the MEN about Manly assistant Brad Arthur being linked with the job. Having read about his intense, honest, passionate and straight shooting coaching style, I certainly think he would share the Doctors ethos.

Arthur worked under Craig Bellamy and apparently has the same thunderous dressingroom intensity. This could be a match made in heaven.

What track record does an assistant have at rebuilding a club and attracting high quality players? Thats just a gamble ! No need to have sacked the coach only to replace him with an unknown! Look what heppned with Parish!?! A head coach with flair and personality on and off the pitch is what's needed! That seems to be the style of the Doctor!

The Doctor needs to come out of his shell and raise his and the club's profile
