Ayers Rock what is your issue with Eccles RL? You're obviously affiliated to another local amateur club and would appear to be extremely negative towards any suggestions regarding Salford developing on Moat Hall.

It's a typical attitude I find throughout amateur clubs in Salford, why you're not embracing the idea and discussing the many positives such a development and partnership could bring is pathetic.

last week in the webchat with Ed farish someone put the following

and now again a push on this thread for Salford build at eccles. So 2+2 an all that.

Think you will that Eccles do not own their ground, they lease it from the Council. Development on that site therefore may prove difficult, not sure for example if there are any covenants, planning restrictions etc.

Even though I played there briefly as jnr, I've had no affiliation to the Eccles club for a long time, and having lived over the other side of country for nearly fifteen years there are no plans to become involved with Eccles again.

So no hidden agenda here, just want what's best for the Red Devils.

It's a very good suggestion that you make. Long term this club will only have a viable future if we can start to produce local youngsters capable of putting on the red shirt at super league level. We need to work closely with all the local amateur clubs in the city if we are to have local youngsters in our team. If we are able to build facilities that benefit not only ourselves but one of the local amateurs clubs then even better.

My train of thought was along the same lines, what better way to engage with the community than to provide training assistance. I'm sure something could be done for other local clubs, it doesn't necessarily have to be financial assistance. The Red Devils could assist with obtaining grants, or sending strength and conditioning coaches out to work with the younger players.

I'd hope that if we do start to use the facilities in Barton that we make sure someone on the SMC staff is given the job specifically as was buying tickets a couple of weeks ago and there was a conversation going on along the lines of the first team were having to use the artificial pitch and not the grass one they had booked because someone in the back office had double booked it 'again'.

I never quite understand why a certain amount of the training isn't actually done in the stadium itself, with it's location and low roof on the South stand there is quite a swirl inside so the likes of Snyed, Foran and Fages should be in there experimenting to make maximum use of it and then the backs getting the practice of understanding the wind when going to catch the ball.

I was told yesterday that a deal has been agreed for us to move into city's Carrington base from August next year once they move their training facilities to Eastlands. A massive coup for us in my opinion as the facilities there are head & shoulders above what any other RL club can offer.

Think if that's correct that's makes a statement more than some of the signings were being linked too, can see a huge increase being needed in back room staff and some serious investment being made on the sports science and rehabilitation.

This could prove a key factor in attracting top quality youngsters and senior players to the club.

When I joined the gym when it opened, I was told that Salford do not use it for 2 reasons. 1, was that they expected to get it for free and were not interested in paying to use the facilities and 2, that with limited space, to have 30 players plus coaches etc would severely restrict access to paying members, so they declined.

I would of declined it too if I was in charge at Salford why would you want members of the public getting in the way of weight sessions. And plus we need our own gym anyway, carrington is perfect!

The team do use the gym, go in on a Sunday morning about 10:30 and there's a troupe of players in recovery in their working on various aspects of fitness around the injury they are carrying.

Then we will have the same problem City have.

if that problem is the ease of access the media have so City are always in the news
