A player retained against his wishes is an unhappy player and unhappy players don't perform. So who wins? Nobody! The club's interests and the player's interests are not separate.'"
Good luck to Marc if he see's his future elsewhere but any release would have to be on the terms our club agree with. All I will say is a lot can happen in 12 months and what may feel like a good decision right now could prove to be a poor one in the future. I’ve no doubt there will be outside influences, the question is, are they for the best long-term interests of Marc Sneyd or themselves?

| I really fail to understand why Salford have such an issue with Castleford over Syned. I don't recall and comments made by the coach, coaching staff, players or chairman relating to Sneyd. The only comments made have been on twitter between your chairman and supporters, which lets be honest, shouldn't be happening anyway.
Last year, you took our prize asset which devastated most of the Cas supporters, your chairman rounded up around 50 lemmings and taunted all the Cas supporters all the way through the Cas Salford fixture last season. I have never been to a match where the opposition supporters cheered more for our players than we do. This was in bad taste and your owner was in his element. It seems this may be reversed this year. So be it!!

Didn't Cas go public to say they'd opened negotiations with Salford, only for Marwan to deny any such negotiations had taken place?

So we're lemmings; there were only 50 of us; we taunted Cas fans all the way through the match; our chairman was in his element (and you could see that from your vantage point), but it's Salford that have an issue with Castleford
And yes, we cheered Rangi. A bit. We didn't have a whole lot else to cheer last season.

Maybe the answer was not to let all your nobber fan element run rampant on the issue. I think the sheer number of ridiculous, offensive, mardy, gobe supporters has actually made MK dig his heels in. Whether you like it or not. Whether you agree with him or not. Life's not fair and he holds all the cards.
Yes, it wasn't right parading Chase while he was at Cas, or winding-up your supporters. Like I said, life isn't fair. The roles wont be reversed this year as most Salford supporters would be sorry to see Marc go, but the replacements we've got mean that there probably wont be many tears shed for a player who's heart is elsewhere. Plus, your Club needs to find some dosh on the issue.

Have a look at the hashtag #FreeMarcSneyd on Twitter. Have a look at the Free Marc Sneyd page on Facebook. They aren't being run by Salford fans (aside from the taking on Twitter) and it is Cas supporters making themselves look pitiful.

Really? I wasn't stood in the middle of Koukash and friends, but I was stood just to the right and there was a sarcastic "Chase will tear you apart next year" towards the end of the game. Funnily enough, even the Cas fans stood around us were laughing at that one. You precious little darling, you.

You're forgetting Marwan's incredible powers of persuasion ("Will a cheque do?"icon_wink.gif.
Interesting thing is, they seem serious over this four half-back thing. When they first said it, I thought they were just using coded language for "Well, if you want Marc, you're going to have to pay for him."

I think four halves is overkill but I get the impression that one of them will be bit part cover in the hooking role, Theo while not being a world beater there looked more than capable and for me would improve with specialist training and more experience.

It'll be a fairly big cheque then for Brierley. Four half-backs in a team is quite unusual but there's no reason why a team can't have that many. But I'd not be too thrilled if I was a half-back and there was a surplus of them. I do wonder how much Dr. Koukash wants us to pay Salford for Marc Sneyd ?

| Daryl Powell had this to say in this weeks Pontefract + Castleford express when talking about this weeks game and i quote "Salford have talked themselves up a fair bit and spent a fair bit of money. Nobody knows how much but its a fair bit."
"We're playing against a player who was at our club for a number of years and obviously left us last year so there,s a little bit of feeling and emotion attached to the game from a lot of the fans, just based on about the way they go about their business."
"Some of it is un-Rugby League like you might say"
That's exactly how he says it and the last bit would seem to indicate that Daryl is not pleased.

Well, going off the RFL tribunal formula that we've been told means Cas can get Sneyd for peanuts, it would suggest Brierley would be smaller peanuts.
Quote ="EHW"Where a transfer is to take place pursuant to Operational Rule C1:3:16 above and the two Clubs are unable to reach agreement then the following scale of payments shall apply:
A sum equivalent to the sum of £115 per week of training and education invested in the Player and a further lump sum of £5,000 if the Player attains a salary of £25,000 per annum or more with the new Club.
So, if Sneyd has been at Salford for 5 years in total (?), he would be worth about £35k.'"

By contrast, Marwan says "Not long before we visit Cas. Looking forward to going there and let's all just enjoy the game." Surely Powell knows some of Cas's less intellectually gifted followers have worked themselves into a near frenzy over recent months, and it's massively irresponsible of him to inflame the situation with such remarks. He needs to take a leaf out of Marwan's book and act with a bit more dignity. Disgraceful behaviour.

Wonder if this is the sort of thing Shaun Wane was referring to when he spoke about respect.
Just hope the neanderthals on both sides don't kick off because I'm sure that sort of comment will not be missed by the RFL

| No, Wane was upset that Powell had said we didn't fear Wigan after we drew them in the cup. Wane said we should show them some respect.
I'm not saying Powell was right to make the Salford comments, just that he does't sound pleased.

| After last night, Sneyd still hasnt changed my opinion. Excellent kicker but little else. Miles away from the England call-up some Cas fans would have you believe he deserves.
More than happy to let him go to the highest bidder.

| Wasn't really a half backs game last night pal. Rangi hardly ran the show. Marc is still young and developing. If you wanna see what he's capable of watch the highlights of our games against wakey and hull kr for example.

| No disrespect but I wouldn't say good performances against Wakey or Hull KR are worth talking about. Rangi was by far and away the best half back on the pitch last night. I like Sneyd, we've had the lad since a teenager, but he isn't as good as the hype which surrounds him. Average half back with a great boot on him.
