| When you're paying McGoldrick what we are you can understand why they're persisting with him. Awful bit of business from us.

| I'd be happy with the squad if Owen was in for McGoldrick, Foran and Mauro being dropped is a bonus though.

| With Mauro and Foran dropped I think we can make the scoreline a bit more respectable tomorrow.

| It looks like Foran and Mauro have been the first two culled !!!
Owen all day before McGoldrick, Sneyd or Gibson at hooker.

Can we please put this to bed. Gibson played hooker for us a few years ago and it was one of the most inept performance at acting half I have ever seen. If we are saying gibson can play hooker then so can Griffin by that admission.
Centre or winger end of!

| For those who said Noble doesn't pick talented youngsters...
Noble's hands are tied by the existence of a small squad but he plans to take a look at teenager Niall Evalds, who made three Super League appearances earlier in the year.
"Niall's a full-back who can play a bit of wing," Noble said. "He's quick. I really like him. His attitude is first-class so we need to give him an opportunity."

Good to see that Noble will be giving Evalds a chance, but I thought Evalds was a halfback/fullback not a fullback/winger?

We could all play "a bit of wing", what has Nobby been smoking? IMO Niall has the potential to become a superb fullback and hopefully we'll see some of that tonight. If he's on the wing he's wasted!

If there's any truth in that article then, to me at least, McGoldrick just thinks it's a big game and should be far more professional. Not impressed.

Horrible man, even worse player. He comes across as smarmy and arrogant in that interview or is that just me?

| not a problem with those comments from him. I dont get this "boo'ing" and throwing beer at players. It's more embarrasing as a fan to see these idiots carrying on doing this no matter how bad the product on the pitch is.
A lot of the players have had a rough 18 months so it must have been crap enviroment to be in. Players like Mcgoldrick were brought in just to give us a bit of expereince as at one point were we not looking at having pretty much 80% of last years 21's making up the first team?
We all knew this year was a right off and reading some of the crap that comes out of people on this board is laughable. Anyone and i mean ANYONE who has played rugby knows that a player who takes to the field does not go out to give nothing, at any level! sure i can accept that they can be playing badly, down on confidence, etc.... but no player i believe misses tackles on purpose, doesn't drive a ball in hard and so on. The fact is the players we have are about the standard that our league position suggests and it's as simple as that. These players in other teams may get away with it for a while being masked by better players around them but in the end they filter down to clubs like us who have operated in a poor manner compared to the bigger teams.

Julie Stott was the co-author (?) of the Malcolm Alker book and I believe she recently married Dave Woods the BBC match commentator and Premier Sports match commentator.
( Not to be confused with the Whitehaven head coach Dave Woods, who is married to a diamond )
It may just be my opinion, but those at the club pre-January/Takeover are performing better than those arriving post-January/Takeover,bar the odd exception.
Hopefully they will all put in a performance tonight.

| The problem is when these players collectively perform very well 'by their own standards' we do OK, when they play averagely we do badly, and when they play less than average it's disastrous.

I think this is where people get it mixed up. There is a difference between a player who takes to the field not intending to not give nothing and one who takes to the field not giving a sh[ii[/it.

I agree around December and January it must have been worrying for the players. However it's almost 5 months now since the Doctor took over and the club and people shouldn't still be using the past as an excuse for individual performances. If the players are still looking back and dwelling on how thet felt 6-7 months ago it isn't going to help improve anything.

| It would be silly to put Evalds in at full-back tonight for me, our defence is about as tight as a wet paper bag at the moment and it would do the kid no good to potentially have the p*ss taken out of him by countless St Helens attackers making continuous breaks. Playing him on the wing would be a great common sense move by Nobby and would be a much safer option for his development than throwing him in at full-back. The two postions are not too dis-similar anyway, heāll still need to drop back to defend their kicks and will need to return the ball back as he would do from full-back however it also protects him to some degree.
I remember we did a similar thing with Ratchford when he first broke into the first team and it did him no harm. Plus, at Leeds & Catalans away Niall didnāt do too badly playing off the wing did he.

| Think that tonight was/is a real kick in the teeth for Nial, where Gaskell didn't do anything to badly wrong I still feel that playing him so awfully out of position while not promoting Nial is bad team management.
