I like him as a fella and one thing's for sure, on the rocky boat that is Salford this appointment will settle the ship at the right time. The players like him, he already has an idea of what he has to play with and now he gets a little bit of freedom to call the shots properly.

Too many people on here want change change change with regards to coaching without fully understanding the dynamics of a Club environment. Vievers is a safe choice, granted, but not necessarily a bad one.

He's aware of the systems in place at the Club.
He's familiar with how the Club is run.
He's already built relationships with his players.
He's aware of what is required to improve the team.
The players respect and like him.
He's aware of budgets.
He's aware of the constraints in place.
He's unlikely to run away at the first sign of adversity.
He understands and has experience of SL.
The team does not have the worry of wholesale changes that are not based on knowledge.
He's aware of the reality of coaching Salford.

In defence of eccles i seem to remember we played warrington in the same weekend most of their squad players played in the international fixture 2 days prior, Thats why we won that game.

If its Veivers, I feel that this is a marriage of financial constraints and the need to salvage a holed ship before it sinks. So let's give him and the directors a chance and not destroy the attempt by undermining the efforts.

IMO not the man to take us forward don't think he's ready but he's exactly the yes man the club wanted, now we have an average coach with an average team in an average new stadium the ''do-gooders'' on here sum up the club you're the kind of fans the club want, everything they do is wonderful unfortunately I don't think things aren't going to work out and I hate to say it but when it goes spectacularly wrong I can't wait cause it will be the biggest wake up call this club has ever had, it may be to late by then.

Wouldnt matter who we appointed to be frank - the club desperately needs big new investment to be up with the big boys otherwise we have to be grateful for whats put in front of us. It's a major worry.

Good luck to Vievers but I'm not exactly enthusiastic about his appointment. Salford need radical change from the outside, top to bottom and I can't see Veivers managing that. Also get the feeling that this is convenient for Simms as he can now claim to be an experienced head guiding a rookie HC through his first year.

Another season of dross awaits I'm sure anyway.

I'm not at all happy with the way things are progressing (like everyone else who posts on here - "do-gooders" and "doom-mongers"icon_wink.gif but I'm hoping that the club directors and managers manage to turn it around before it is too late and will cling to that hope because it's the only option we, the fans, have unless we can scrape the money together to buy the club
