| Quote ="eccles star"With players leaving the club in droves and plan after plan who will pay to watch only the die hards will go I know for one that I won't waste money on a team that as no abortion to move forward and just survive. To get fans in you need to be able to compete and after a season that we only won so many matches. Next year we are going to have crap team with cheap team so fans will see us propping up. If investment is coming can't see it being worth much as we are still getting rid of player. 20 years of this club I supported now I am fed up with the crap club come out with. I lost interest and not being loaded salford can no longer be a priority as won't be worth supporting a club that don't show any interest any more'"
Even though I have pre-paid for next season, even I wouldn't like to see an abortion move forward on the field of play.

Keep the faith.
The club does have ambition. This was posted on the Cronulla forum -
[iSharks and Souths where both chasing Joel Moon for next year. Rabbits where willing to buy out Joels contract but Salford would not release him.
Joel took them to court but lost the case, so he will be staying over there for the remainder of this contract.[/i
Not the action of a selling club.
In this weeks RLE Phil Veivers is quoted as saying,in relation to rebuilding the side, - '' We expect it to be done in a fortnight, and the people we have earmarked have already been spoken to.''
It made me feel slightly more relieved and very interested in who the players are who are willing to do their best for Salford.

| This year despite only winning 8 matches Salford scored 116 tries in 27 matches, one of our best returns for some time, now just thing if instead of moaning a thousand fans would have sponsored each of them tries for a pound each, the club would have had £116,000 to invest in the junior teams. Imagine what that sort of money can do to improve the image of the club to young players, getting treated like professional players from an early age, state of the art training equipment and food supplements, and a club uniform. Building up and attracting good young players and setting out a pathway for the future of the club, keeping the best and selling the rest and carry on with the investment in youth to build, just like Leeds and Wigan.
Pity just 17 of us could be bothered to take part this year.

The salary caps and available cash afforded to NRL clubs are going to increase next season on the back of a bumper TV Deal , so basically
A) they can afford to pay their players more
B) they can afford to buy top grade British Players or British Based Aus players . or even buy SBW out of his Japan RU deal.
no wonder Patten decided it's a good time be a players agent ....
With RU copping for a 152M BT TV deal + what they already get from the massive 6 nations deals we're going to be squeezed from both sides.
considering the troubled economy there is sponsorship a-plenty , unless you're a sport run by parochial dim-wits governed by top teams self interest ..

TBH if people could afford to pay an additional £ 116 per season in sponsorship they could afford to pay an additional £ 5 per game ticket price ...
if everyone who pertains to be a Salford Supporter and posts on this site paid £ 10 to Forever Reds [url=http://viewtopic.php?t=362951&tx=9TW125399S278011P&st=Completed&amt=10.00&cc=GBP&cm=&item_number=New%20Membershiplink here[/url they would be in a much better position to support our junior sides & invest in our future .
that's much easier to do (1 minute online ) and more plausible , 100's of people post on here 1000's view .
NRL teams offer membership to supporters who can never go to games due to finance, distance or are just armchair supporters who want to feel they are playing a part .
we could spent weeks going on about how our club can never get their act together, it would be nice if they did , or we could be proactive and support an trust that is already in existence? it's a start anyway .
up until the disaster that was July , playing wise we were having ( by Salford standard) a pretty good go . then there was the Widnes Home game & London away the two low-lights of the season.
players are leaving , but that is freeing up supposedly 350K + to support hopefully players that will put pride back into our Shirt win lose or draw.
I don't expect us to win SL next season , I'm not that bothered with all the rhetoric with 5 yr plans. I've had a lifetime plan to be a supporter of the club and nothing will change that , no matter how much trouble we're going through .

| Middleman I agree with you but we have less than 50 members of forever reds, no matter how hard we try, we even get people turning up to meet the players who are not members and wouldn't even think of joining, £116 is spread over the season and you could sponsor home or away tries only, I am not saying that all the fans have spare money, but most want top players at the club and to win trophies with somebody else paying for it, perhaps it is a Salford thing where we expect something for nothing or cheap and not the true cost. All I have done is put forward an idea that is quite simple but raises quite a bit of money and again it is not too hard, no exercise is involved and if paid in at each home match is only about £7-00 a game or the price of two pints at the ground.
But apathy rules and the owner according to some takes money out of the club so without more fans getting off their backsides and doing something who in their right mind would invest in the club when fans object to paying for what is on the field. If the fans shown more commitment perhaps certain businessmen in the city might just thing about putting the big money in, this could be a massive surge in forever reds membership.

| Re FOREVER REDS
I am a member of forever reds, I joined the past season
From what I can observe, its like a secret society. If I didn't go on Scarlet Turkey I would not know when the meeting are. I am not on Twitter or Facebook and there are probably a lot of fans not on Scarlet Turkey.
Need more publicity i.e. Reporter/Advertiser, League Express, League Weekly even asking Neil Barker for a mention
Meetings seem to be arranged willy nilly instead of at a regular time table (Accept if you are trying to arrange players to attend it makes dates a bit difficult)

There are regular meetings and I always get an email notification. Maybe you should ask try asking the question and checking they've got all the correct details rather than thinly veiled digs at how things are run.

To be fair - they haven't been very regular this season. More likely this year that there hasn't been a meeting than there has been a meeting that's been kept quiet. The meetings that used to happen pretty much every three weeks got stale with the same people asking the same questions to different people (or even just talking at them) in front of smaller and smaller crowds. It was decided to have fewer, bigger/better events this year, however it's been a bit of an awkward year with the club's off field issues and them getting accustomed to their new surroundings. The last event was the hugely successful Curry & Quiz night at the end of July.

Whatever that's supposed to mean?
The point I was making is that I've had emails about meetings, including ones this season, even when my membership had lapsed. So I'm sure a quick email enquiring as to why you weren't getting any updates at all about would have solved the problem.

Scoot, has Iain has already said, this year has been a difficult one with regards meetings and there haven't been all that many but apart from emails etc, which I have had, the meeting details are always posted on here and what actually was discussed gets a full report from BBM a couple of days after each meeting.
With regards it being like a secret society that's a little unfair as I find it strange that people who to my knowledge have never attended any FR meeting always know what has gone on and in some cases they hear of things that were not on the agenda and then add to it.

| Think the farce that has been and following todays announcement that still is Bradford shows that vastly reducing prices and making season tickets too cheap can only lead to meltdown (lest we really have got a new owner with money to throw away).
What is needed is a quality product on the pitch and an experience pre and post match to make £20 for 3 or 4 hours entertainment seem like brilliant value.
Christ it's £10 at the pictures now, throw in a fiver for a scoop of ice cream & cup of ice with coke splashed over it and your looking at 90 minutes entertainment (if you take of 30 minutes of adverts before the film) for not far off the same price as 5 hours at Salford.

| I agree with regards to forever reds! If you did not come on this forum how would you know about it? How about speaking to the club asking to have flyers on the tables in corporate, hospitality. I know for a fact my group of associates have no idea whom and what forever reds are about. Not knocking the idea but if it's just a group of the same cronies who post on here who fail to see wrong in the club, to be honest it is not something I'd like to participate in, in the main it would infuriate myself while trying to do a good deed. Not good for the blood pressure.

| We as forever reds have had flyers around the ground we appear in the programme which is given free to the corporates, meetings are/were put in the Advertiser, I have seen "fans" take a forever reds leaflet and then walk a few yards and throw it away. It is not a secret society but a group of fans who care about the club and want Salford to do well, we are critical of the club as well, we take a balanced approach and don't blame the club for all the worlds ills. Even now somebody somewhere will be blaming Salford for the unrest in the Middle East just as one poster on here was blaming the club for the RFL scrapping the U20's. The more fans who get involved the more we can do for the club and the more involved fans are with a club the better it looks to investers, but we are up against the other supporter group the Apathy Reds who seem to be more popular and you don't have to do anything to join them.

| Here's on for you then Pev, have FR approached club sponsors, local businesses with regards for sponsorship to help funding? I believe it was Hull KR approached the locals to help fund their juniors to tour to Aus and was done successfully. I understand FR are up against it but I still say the average Salford fan would know nothing what so ever. What about a group of facebook, listing up and coming events, past it on the clubs page. I believe they had over 100 comments on a status recently, so think of all the potential "customers" that could be attracted rather that complaining that only a handful participated.

| Programmethrower, FR have in the past approached local businesses to sponsor a calendar which we produced for a couple of years, but the club do one so we were asked not to step on their toes, plus the club were approaching the same businesses as well, so they have already given to the club and they don't have the spare for FR. We have done joint stuff with the players in the past for testamonials which generates quite a bit, so our hands are tied and the sponsor a try is now our biggest fund raiser and pays for equipment for the juniors.
As for facebook I have got bored with it, as somebody pointed out SCR's page has over 7k likes but i would reckon less than a thousand actually know who or what SCR are, people just tend to tick like because it gives them access to more "friends" and quite a few of the large compaines who were in the early days paying for advertising on facebook are now not investing as much because they don't get the returns on investment they had predicted.
To be honest I haven't a clue how facebook works i seem to get some notifications on email and other times i don't and i have only ever seen one debate on SCR on it and i can't find it now even I am a "member" of the group.

| I am a member of Forever Reds, It is my opinion that anybody who gives their time and effort to help any organisation
deserves a lot of credit. But I was amazed when I found out just how many members we have,at this time.I was
speaking to someone not a member and I asked him why he had not joined,he said we are just the clubs mouthpiece.
I wonder his that is the opinion of other people and If that is why the membership is so small.I do remember when the
vault closed and we were allocated another room, and had to pay room prices for ale,was a bit much, seeing we were
their supporting the club.
