Don't really think we can afford to get rid of McRae and bring in someone else, unless we promote from within until the end of the season. I'll be seriously disappointed if we don't have a new coach for 2012 though.

All the hype about new players and what do we get the same performance as last year.
Common denominator... the coach
He should not have been given the ridiculous contract he has in the first place.
People say we can not afford to get rid of him, I say we can not afford to keep him.
And before you say the coach does not make players drop the ball miss tackles etc well he does set out the tactics and defensive drills.
He also appears to have done with Holdsworth what he has done with a lot of the players and that is coach the flair side of their game out of them.
Do the honourable thing McRae and please go.

To answer your question Lance - no I don't think he will. Wilky is loyal (to a fault at times with certain people in the past/present within the Salford club) and will not rush into getting rid of people until it is at least midway through the season in my opinion, though with the apparent outlay him and the board have forked out on the squad then I don't know, we will have to see. One thing I do NOT want to happen is giving ALKER the job.... that would be suicide and with his 'alleged' behind the scenes behaviour he is no way responsible enough to get the job. I presume he would go too if McRae goes and is replaced, which in my opinion wouldn't be a bad thing because we need to get rid of the losing culture that surrounds the club, despite the stellar playing career Alker gave to us and for that we will always be thankful. No more jobs for the boys at Salford is whats needed in my view - a new more modern fresh approach with fresh coaching personnel at first team level

If we get to 5 games 5 losses like last year then he has to go, 1 win in 5 and he will probably have to go too. We have looked the poorest side at MM and we can no longer use the old 'we have the smallest salary cap' excuse that gets trotted out cause these new signings plus Holdsworths upgrade will mean we ain't paying peanuts... time to shape up or sh*t out as Brian Potter says.....

We didn't show as much loyalty to KH..........Get rid of Macrae NOW. He's just not good enough. For those of you who were saying, 'friendlies' didn't matter, well the evidence is there for all to see. No discipline, no idea in attack, no defence, not enough team spirit to at least make a fight of it, (The game, not fisticuffs).

Strikes me that if McCrae goes and is replaced with a new coach, then unless the new man has carte blanche to change the whole management structure nothing much will change. It's been said on other posts that the same thing has happened with Andy Greg and Karl Harrison - so it's not JUST Sean McCrae - there is something fundamentally wrong - such a pity it wasn't sorted out pre-season when the player recruitment was happening.

It would seem pretty clear though, that we've started this season exactly where we left off last - there were also enough warnings in the pre-season games, beaten by Leigh, slaughtered by HKR. Unprofessional behaviour, getting players banned for happenings in friendlies just says there isn't a strong enough management in place.

In the past I've not been one to call for the manager's head - after today I think my opinion is swinging around - if we want to make this season into something memorable there must be some action - Mr Wilkinson - PLEASE!

As the Leigh game is part of the topic, doesn't it strike you as strange that our best player against Leigh had only just arrived a few days earlier!!!!

Go on the BBC Sport website and read Macrae's after game comments - The guy has no idea, HE'S THE ONE WHO'S EMBARASSING!

To give you an example of how badly unprepared our team is you only have to look at the drop out when the Crusaders made the short kick and regathered the ball. This is a play they made a few times last year. It just proves beyond doubt that McRae and the other coaches aren't doing their jobs thoughrally. A good coach would have knowledge of this and be telling the players before the game about it. At this level it just isn't good enough. If they can't pick up on a detail like this what hope is there?

It isn't about the chairman being too "nice" to sack him, it's that we cannot afford to sack him. How many people on the coaching staff?
Mistake was made by giving such a long contract to a mate of Simms.

The only option for the club is to engineer a resignation, but my guess is that McRea is hard faced and will cling on until the end.

Please Salford, don't implode, i've seen it too often, and frankly i'm bored of it.

Tactically naive and very predictable. It's really not good enough for Super League.

One of the Sky commentators hit the nail on the head today.

He said atleast Salford can be proud of one thing (before Godwin's little "incident" that is) they've been a clean and fair team giving away very few penalties.

That to me just shows that there's no hunger or passion, which stems from the poor coaching. We just seem to be too tame and give the opposition way too much respect. All other teams are in your face and pushing for mistakes, we sit back and watch with puppy dog eyes. Mr Wilkinson is a charming, polite person but if that's how the team come across we'll never get anywhere.

We need now a coach with a fierce bite and some attitude to push our lads and make other teams scared of us. Without this edge they'll be even more tonkings coming our way.

Haven't we got one place untaken in the squad? That could help go towards it.

There's no way McRae will walk. If JW and co haven't got the balls to sack him say hello to another disappointing season and goodbye to a franchise place.

Maybe it was an over-reaction to being caned by the refs in the friendlies? Alibert was never going to be as picky as Child so we could have pushed it a bit more but sometimes we can't win. given that they scored off pretty much every penalty i don't think giving more of them away would have been a good thing

Surely Wilky and co can afford to pay off the last 10 months off his contract. If not then either he's earning a fortune or the club's skint.

There look to be big problems with your lot, from a coach who is clearly past it and a Football Director (who does what exactly?) who both appear bomb-proof.

I don't particularly rate a good number of your signings either, I think a new coach would get a lot more out of them than McRae though.

[iOur head-coach needs to install some passion and pride into the whole squad sooner rather than later.

In the past we have had players like Alker and Littler who would put there bodys on the line sadly yesterday down in Wales not one single player stood out in my eyes.

SACK THE COACH ? Well on that one all I can say if this was football Mr McRae would have been clearing his office this morning for sure.

The players are seasoned pros and all that is need now is for our coaching staff to make them believe in themselves.

What was almost as embarrasing was that they went almost 100 meters in that set of 6 as well...outrageous stuff by us not being ready for that as well as their numerous short kick offs.

Since We have a certain Mr Phil Bailey on the books, who doesn't seem to be earning his coin as a player, maybe we could use his much publicised coaching/mentoring skills to improve our forward pack. It maybe a little American Football or Rugby Union type thinking, but would a forwards coach be such a bad thing?
