A page long interiew in LeagueWeekly today suggests he's involved already in training and looking forward to working with MP (due here this week) and Veivers. He states he wants to step up as a head coach (he mentioned at Salford as a possibility) in a few years and is aiming for the England job in ten years. Not a grasshopper then.

In a linked article Simms stated we are after no more big signings. All the squad bar Joel Moon and Shannon McPherson will be in training this week : they arrive in December.

Hull seem interested in Broughton tho'.

two nights ' training ' and a saturday afternoon kickabout for a Div 2 RU side and being an assistant coach at Salford is plausible .

Plus, his shoulder will be fine as he's playing Yawnion and won't need to tackle!

North West Tonight reported that he has joined the Grasshoppers. No mention of his coaching here.

Surely if there was any truth in this Salford would be entitled to some form of compensation as he is contracted to us as a coach?

Sean is the Reds' Assistant coach. He may play a little recreational rugby for Preston when his time permits on a Saturday afternoon but it is a spare time project for him and in no way will affect his role here. A lot of former RL players play a bit of RU when their body's can't take the RL anymore

And to put everybody's mind at rest Sean was at training with the full team at Salford Uni this morning!

Shame Preston Grasshoppers seem to have got more media coverage about Sean Long playing a bit of social rugby for them than we got from him becoming our assistant coach.

So good news shaun continues to learn his trade as an assistant, Matt comes back this week and any new signings Wont be big or be news to simms which to me means Matt will hopefully bring a few back with him from oz..

as we all know , he doesnt think twice about sharing his views.......

I very much doubt he can say anything really, if Long was still playing it would be a different matter but this is a recreational thing for Long, the minute it does (if it every does) get in the way of his duties I have know doubt he will be told.

I guess he will play on the wing in yawnion where if you are lucky you get to touch the ball once.

I feel he will become a asset to the playing side of the club his will to win and his ability to perform in high pressure circumstances will rub of on the boys and hopefully turn them from also rans to contenders

Unless he gets injured badly doing his recreational sport!

A few years ago we would have signed him in his current career stage...



I've heard that before about various people. We shall see.

I was annoyed Sean didn't give us a mention/plug as well espacially given our new stadium opening being on the horizon, he could of talked about his role with us and given an assurance that the two will not interfere with each other.

I am sure doing both won't be a problem, but still an opportunity missed !
