| 1,500 today.
Leigh manged over 4,000 and the Hull derby managed nearly 10,000.
Im a bit disappointed for Marwan and the Hennings because I expected a much better turnout for what was a charity match for a very good cause.
Thoughts?

| To be honest I'm not surprised. £20 a ticket is ridiculous, apparently St. Helens were only charging £12, wonder how many were put off !

| Of course the pricing put people off. As for advertising that was down to the Salford club they chose to leave it till last week.

| Leigh v Wigan is always going to be a good turn out: the rivalry is still evident.
A Hull derby is also a major event: note the number of Airlie birds and Robins at the Magic weekend DESPITE Hull being at Wembley and for the first time.
I admire the Swinton faithful : no ground for decades, little notice outside their patch, and all the difficulties in building up a fan base we have with out the "lure" of being in SuperLeague. That they can attract as many as they can is a credit. Sadly it also means they do not have the pull of Leigh.
Those domiciled in Salford may not have noticed the weather: in HillbillyLand, I woke to 3 inches of snow, more falling, and mist. I had to ring the club to check the game was on: where I live it was very unlikely. I did expect just not a wetness on the ground and the sun shining. It may have put off others who would have come from the Pennine area.

| It was a poor turnout.
I'm not sure enough noise was made about why it was being played outside of RL circles. Even inside RL circles few people were aware of it. I posted on the VT about it last week to try and get some neutrals down if they were not aware. It got a grand total of two or three replies.
So, in the face of such apathy, what we got wasn't too bad.

I agree, me and my Dad both planned on attending but woke to 2 inches of snow -2 temperatues and heavy fog, we doubted that the game would be played also. I dont think it was a terrible turnout either considering.

It took a phone call to the stadium company to even obtain any tickets to sell in the Swinton area and they only arrived on the 9th Jan just one week before the game.

| I was disappointed with the attendance but enjoyed the game nonetheless. It was nice to see fans of other teams too... I saw Warrington and Leeds fans at the game.

| A few of us lads from KR would of liked to come down and support it, and would o'come if our team had not been playing. It's a shame it was not more, however the 1500 or so paying 20 quid still provided a good amount. Fantastic idea and really touches the heart of the community of which all of SL should support.

It wasn't the best of days to travel long distances, but anyone who didn't make it could still donate to one of these:

I thought the antics of the Swinton crowd alone were worth the admission fee, even if security wasn't amused.

| Dont understand the report that £10,000 was raised from the game. If say 1000 x £20 =£20000 and 500 concessions x £10 = £5000
plus programme sales =£25000 plus.
Does this mean the Stadium Company charged £15000 to stage the game ?

You have to remember that the number quoted as attendance would be the tickets issued by the stadium as everyone needed a ticket for enterance. This would include players tickets and also probably tickets for the Henning family also non of which would probably generate income.
Furthermore as already pointed out due to the way the match was priced two adults were better off buying one family ticket there by artificially increasing actual numbers and thus affecting the potential return.
I have it in writing from your CEO that the 10k figure related to monies generated up to Saturday and therefore a further donation may well be made in respect of program sales and raffles on the day.
The stadium company confirmed they charged nothing for the use of the facilities and no doubt your club will provide a full reconciliation of the monies in due course.

"Very grateful to your support last Sunday. The club will also make a contribution and in total £20k will be given to the Henning's fund"

| UPDATE:
On Monday night Koukash was on Radio Yorkshire with Garry Schofield. On the issue of the attendance he said that he was "disappointed" with the turnout and "expected a lot more fans there".
