Of course I would agree. I'm not saying that I don't think we would have a rugby club if not for him. It's been done to death on here the past few months and I owe him eternal gratitude for keeping the club afloat. I love the guy and have always clapped him across the pitch at the willows.

However I do question his ability as a businessman who was lucky enough to secure a piece of welding material which he has managed to make his name on. He hasn't made a success of any of his other businesses as far as I am aware. AS we have seen from the first 2 games his "build it and they will come" philosophy is flawed beyond compare. What excuse is here for last nights att? We only managed over 5000 due to an awesome away support from Hull FC which I'd estimate at close to 1800. So 3000 salford fans on a nice friday night with no snow ice or other natural disaster to get in the way.

My point being Mr Wilkinson would probably have been personaly better off selling the place for a profit years ago , but he retained it to help provide the RL club with income, yes he has made mistakes, and ultimatly run out of luck ( which is a huge part of most successful businesses ) , but he has done all this to help Salford RL club

Even richard branson would had struggled to make a profit at the Willows, it is now totally in the wrong place and like many other drinking places in Salford gone to the wall, people don't go out as much as they used to so any place in an unpopular area will not do well.

How do you know that I don't hold a Business qualification or have a successful business. Seems as you have never met me or know me I can safely say you don't. Yet you still make your assumption.

Because if you had run a successful business ( most fail early on, and very few last forever ) and were still running one now , you would have a better idea of the problems he will be going through at the moment, and therefore would be a lot less critical of him on these boards

As for holding a ' qualification ' , that means nothing, just as having a ' qualification ' in nursing doesn't make you a nurse, doing the job is what makes you what you are

I havent suggested anything about you, I was reffering to FTMM, and yes you do need qualifications to become a nurse, but you also need to build up your experience levels to actually ' nurse ', and just having the qualification doesn't neccessarily make you a good one

Business is different, you dont need any qualifications, but you do need courage, brains, determination and luck, and unless you have tried/done it, then any criticism of those who have done it, and have been as sucessful as John Wikinson at it , doesn't ' wash ' , in fact those that have done it rarely criticise others who have , or even those that have done it but eventually failed at it

And for the record, there is no qualification or experience that can prepare anybody to run a sports club, especially one of the size of Salford in relation to others both in RL and in other sports, especially for the length of time Mr Wilkinson has been at Salford

The debts reported haven't been run up in a few weeks, so Mr Wilkinson has been personally supporting the Willows for a long time, quite possibly for a few years, would you have been happier for him to have let it close down while Salford were still playing there?
