Quote ="REDRUM"Buddy as my post states he has my backing 100% - I've not missed a game and seen a fair few points in the against column so at £22 a game he must have! Brian noble had a certain style which was a big pack that drove forward and liked a kick on the last play that's a fact. It was obviously effective - but at that time. For me the game has moved on somewhat and I hope noble is the right man as another new coach would be really bad for the foundations we are trying to lay. But if you ask me what improvement noble has made on the same players Phil and Alan had, well we have gone backwards so far IMO'"
What I think people don't realise about our style of play last year compared to this year is, this year we haven't got the quality of player like Matty Smith, Daniel Holdsworth or Joel moon to play an expansive type of game throwing the ball about like the Harlem globetrotters. This year we have the second string/fringe players of last year and people expect the same performances, well it's not going to happen.
Brian Noble has come into the club knowing what the winning brand of RL is, where as last year we scored some nice tries we also let in a lot of them aswel, Noble knows the Bradford Bulls (1997-2005) type of play is a successful one as we've seen teams like Huddersfield, Leeds and even Wigan adopt a similar style of set up and play. What nobby does realise about Salford is we're not good enough to be expansive with the likes of McGoldrick and foran in key positions. So he try's to play basic error free rugby with a good kicking game, but again due to our weakness of playing staff we can't play that way due to the forward pack being to lightweight and the inability to finish of set plays.
At the end of the day This isn't nobles team it's not even Veivers team its the rejects from what's left of his team, wait until next year when nobby brings In players who fit into his style of play and you'll see just how effective it is.
