Hopefully they won't be having the high calorie drinks but as you say they shouldn't be forced to live in a bubble. It also comes down to the amount of calories they are burning in training and during a game etc... When I'm out on my bike I can burn anywhere between 1000 - 3000 calories depending on the distance and intensity. A high calorie drink doesn't look to bad a treat in view of those calories burned.
