Quote ="The Black Cat"The programme stated 'scouse' was probably a Nordic word for stew and thats that! Also I was fuming at the dirty old town theme too!
Tripe the new steak Diane - Salford to be renamed as 'The Tripe belt' instead! Good luck in trying it mate, my advice - stay well away!'"
The BBC need to do their homework about Salford if they can't place 'Dirty Old Town'.
I have to say that the best tripe I ever ate was from a mobile vendor next to the big market in Florence. It had a hot tomato sauce and was frickn lovely. If we ever get an Italian team in SuperLeague I would recommend it for away games.
I might give steak diane a go, though. In the 60s and 70s life was so much simpler at our house - a posh night out was going to the restaurant next to Worsley Civic Halls. Or that one on the East Lancs that's now a Premier Inn. Prawn cocktail, steak and chips, black forest gateau, Irish coffee, an argument with our kid and a smack from me mum. Job done. Balls to Hector Blumenfart.
