Takairangi has been stood down by the Robins as he awaits a hearing at Hull Crown Court on March 31st.
The 32 year old Australian drove his vehicle in the opposite direction on the A63 in Kingston Upon Hull and collided with a Humberside Police Vehicle.
Takairangi was over the DD limit and was arrested at the scene.
I have no sympathy for him he could have potentially caused a fatality. I expect the usual lame excuses from his legal representative, Mental Health etc etc there is no excuse for what he did.
I have suffered from MH issues for 17 years and it frustrates me when people use it as justification or an excuse for criminal activity or general law breaking.

I agree mate, I lost my brother to a drunk drug driver just over 8 years ago ,and the pain never goes away. He ended up doing 4 years, my brother has gone for good. I went through my local MP (Andy Burnham) at the time to hopefully increase the severity of Death by dangerous driving, but to no avail. I have now learned that we just have to accept it and try to move on.

I personally don’t think we should “just accept it and move on” .
Anyone who drives a vehicle whilst under the influence Alcohol or illegal drugs should face harsh consequences in my opinion, they could easily cause a fatality and ruin people entire life.
As you have an affiliation to Leigh this may be relevant.

“If I speak about things that I’ve done like taking cocaine or smoking cannabis or drink driving, and 500 people criticise me and say ‘Your owner’s an idiot for that’, that does not bother me one bit.

I’m really sorry to hear that. The current punishments for drink and drug driving are far too lenient.
