What about castlefords first try? Ball went backwards, not even up for debate.

Why was it not a red card? He kicked out, soft, but to the letter of the law. The narrative been spun by the commentators is hard luck cas, every call against them. Not the case. Arms flail about when a player is being held down and he is wriggling to try and play the ball. Holmes kicked out, it's not like he was in the act of kicking the ball.

Grant began refereeing when he was 16 as an active member of Leeds Referees Society and progressed through the Referee Pathway.

I missed their first try tbf. Thought Cas were also maybe harshly denied a try when that kick bobbled around. The ref blew up as Eden put it down, didn’t even bother checking with the VR.

What was the worst act? An elbow to the mouth or little push with the foot?

Definite red card, the rules are very clear on that no matter how strong the kicks were.

But lots of little refereeing errors too: Myler non-knock on leading to Cas try, couple of apparent Leeds strips not seen etc.

But the big decision he got right, presumably assisted by the video ref.

The decision when he penalised Cas for a tackle off the ball, about a set after he let Hurrell off for the same thing was bizarre.

You’d think Leeds were playing with 12 men - credit to Cas. It was a red card for Holmes however soft, but Myler should’ve gone to the bin for the elbow in the face.

Regarding Cas first try, that dropped ball went backwards. I’m getting sick of every dropped ball getting rules as a knock on.

Proud of the Cas effort, but utterly embarrassed (again) as a RL fan that we have to accept that level of complete ineptitude from the refereeing team. Is it any wonder we can’t attract new fans & sponsors.
Cue a complete lack of scrutiny of the refereeing team from the sky tea followed by a rinse & repeat for the next game; where some other fan will bemoan the terrible level of refereeing.

Myler's elbow is a red card if you think Holmes was a red - in fact, Myler's was a much more violent contact. If Holmes plays dead and milks it Myler walks.

Hurrell tackling Trueman off the ball and Grant saying 5th tackle then giving Leeds 2 penalties for it in the following 2 sets was taking the absolute P, the 2 ball steals which lead to Leeds first try.

12 v 14 and Leeds still struggled.

Stonewall red card. He kicks out, it's irrelevant how hard.

In the same way Myler elbowing him in the side of the head is also a straight red card, that's the point.

Also, Jackson Hastings kicked Richardson earlier this season and didn't get sent off or banned.

There's a big difference with the myler one though. The ball is in play, he's wriggling to play the ball which means arms will be flailing, holmes has his head low down because he's just tackled him. That type of coming together is common place. The context is different. If myler was stood face to face and elbowed him, it's a red card. But the incidents are not equal.

The fact holmes got uppity and not only pushed him back down but gave him a little kick is symptomatic of the way cas approached this game.

Thought Cas were shafted by the officials last night, if Holmes is carded for that then Myler had to go for the deliberate elbow, boll0x it was flailing arms. Both should have had 10 mins in the bin. Dwyer should have been penalised for clearly leading with his elbow and direct contact with the head of McShane. Donaldson should have had 10 mins in the bin for the spear tackle, he was just fortunate more than anything the player didn't land on his neck.
Thats without the Hurrell off the ball hit and the amount of reefing out of the ball Leeds got away with along with just letting the ball go to claim a penalty. The set restarts were a joke to as Cas were no different to Leeds at the PTB yet seemed to get pinged far more than Leeds.

As a neutral fan last night was a very bad show from the officiating and Cas can rightly feel hard done too.

That`s because nobody likes your coach as he`s always moaning and the powers that be have asked all other teams to rough up your players knowing they won`t get sent off.


Some bad decisions went against you but let`s face it you were gifted 2 tries by that bias ref who supports Leeds Rhinos.
