| I know there are no England matches for the forseeable. What 17 do you think Wane would select as it stands?

| 1. S.Tomkins
2. Makinson
3. Farnworth
4. Gildart
5. Johnstone
6. Williams
7. Gale
8. Walmsley
9. Hodgson (will be back by then)
10. T.Burgess
11. Bateman
12. Farrell
13. Thompson
14. Sutton
15. Clark
16. Watts
17. Whitehead
Reserves: Ashton, Percival, Lomax, Philbin, Havard, Mossop, Hughes
I was scratching around a bit for reserve forwards. Fully prepared for people to point out better options there. I'm not generally a fan of bringing in older guys who aren't already established in the squad but I think Sam Tomkins, Farrell and Mossop warrant it. Tomkins and Mossop only have so few caps due to injury and the resulting loss of form. Farrell I've always said should have been in, a joke how much he has been overlooked year after year.
Gale over Lomax or Widdop is a big call and I'm maybe influenced by him just taking us apart yesterday, but Williams needs a game controller partner which rules Lomax out. Gale is outplaying Widdop right now for me and we kind of know what we're getting with Widdop, which hasn't been enough.

| Is Farnworth the lad at Brisbane?
I agree it is a battle between Lomax and Gale. I'd have Whitehead starting ahead of Farrell: always looked one of the best performers when I have watched Canberra.
From a Leeds perspective, it is a shame Newman's injury as it might make it difficult for him to break into the side before the world cup. I think Oledzki could be in the mix come world cup time also.
There look to be a lot of youngsters at several clubs who in time will be representing England albeit it might be too early for them to make it into the world cup side.

| I'd have Roby, Clark or Mcshane in before Hodgson to be honest.
Ben Currie should be in the 17.
And Tomkins has 25 England caps, that's hardly 'only a few'.

We say this every year for as long as I can remember, and yet we still have no centres anywhere near the players available to the southern hemisphere nations.

Will Roby not be retired, or at least retired from internationals? He will be 36 at the next internationals.
Tomkins has been out of the England squad for a good while apart from the 9s last year.
Has Currie finally strung some games together? Always seems to be injured

28 apperances last year.
14 this year.
Asking if he's strung some games together is a bit daft, now if you'd said has he played any good games, then in 2019 no, none, but that was good to just have him back on teh field and getting his confidence back..
2020, he's been somewhere near his best on a few occasions, its looking promising, he probably wont ever be 2016 version again but he's approaching it, that being said, i think its probably too early for him.

Fair enough, I hadn't noticed him too much. Feels like he's been a player with potential for a bit too long now.

nah 2016 he was amazing, till he did he acl when he scored against you guys just before the play offs, he rushed back too soon as bennett had guaranteed him a WC spot provided he could prove his fitness, and then did it again at the start of 2018. similar sort of timeline to dom manfredi

Is moving to Australia now the surefire way of suddenly becoming international class?
Farnworth has been ok in probably the worst Broncos side in history. How that gets him in the England side has stumped me?
As a Wire fan, I'd say Toby King is worth more of a punt at this moment than him. And there are probably fans of other clubs out there who could suggest even more worthy options too.

Broncos may be poor but he hasn't been. He's stood up well every week against the calibre of player he'll be facing in the internationals.

He's not been poor, but he certainly hasn't shone like some beacon among the sh!+e.
Like I say, you're selecting him on the basis he plays in Australia.

| If we’re saying what should be selected if everyone was fit I’d probably go-
Tomkins
Makinson Newman Gildart Johnstone
Williams Gale
Walmsley Clark Thompson
Bateman Whitehead Sutton
Subs
T Burgess
Cooper
Farrell
Lomax
Squad places for-
McGillvary, Griffin, Widdop, Havard, Watts, McShane, Currie and Knowles.

Well it's definitely an advantage, in the same way I'm ignoring anyone in the Championship. [url=https://www.reddit.com/r/nrl/comments/i0f2vi/herbie_farnworth_resigns_with_broncos/?utm_medium=android_app&utm_source=shareHere[/url is their fans universally praising his play this year despite them raging at the team as a whole. It's not like I'm saying to put him in ahead of Connolly or Senior. It's a position we're weak in and we have a lad playing well there in the NRL. It would be daft not to give him a chance.

| For me, the only guaranteed starting spots are Williams at 7, Walsmley at 8, Bateman at 11 and Makinson at 2.

Of our 2 potential halves, I'd rather have Gale starting than Williams but, FWIW, I think they will both start.
Still unsure about Hodgson at 9. Always solid but never spectacular.
I'd take an in form Clark over Hodgson every time.
Just for a change our options dont look great but, centres and halves aren't our thing
