I think it's really important that coming off a win that it's pointed out how poor Hicks was today. Sometimes if you're on the end of a few wrong calls and end up on the losing side it comes across as sour grapes & excuses, but these things can't be thrown our way after picking up the 2.

Hicks was absolutely shocking today. He has an arrogance that is ruining his judgment in matches. I go back to the Wembley final last year and I was one of the few people on here who didn't laugh at him screwing Saints over. He didn't go to the video ref on that day and he's never learnt his lesson - that's what happens then they are over protected imo.

We desperately need the captain's challenge, so these kind of mistakes can be taken out of his hands.

Even Luke Gale isn't happy with him (despite them getting the majority of the calls)

In his early career he couldn't make a call without help. Now with his arrogance after someone for some reason once thought he was a good ref, it seems like he won't go. Very much like a certain former referee who has a high ranking job nowadays.

I agree, he had a shocker today for both sides. Pure arrogance lead to Briscoe’s try being awarded and for the life of me I can’t work out why he sin binned Luke Gale. Hastings was never in any danger IMO, it was a penalty at best. Gale had every right to be aggrieved and good on him for speaking his mind too.

Loses control and drops him on his neck. Yellow card all day.

Plus he had said anyone who appeals/moans is sitting down which im guessing he did.

In his defence for the Briscoe try, I'd be more looking at the assistant to help him out for those sorts of calls. I expect he got the green light from the linesman and saw nothing else wrong with it.

100% on that one. At worst the linesman says “I couldn’t see it” and they check the foot in touch. He obviously couldn’t see it properly, so he’s made a massive error there.

The last thing Hicks had said to Gale was "I don't give a monkey's". Rightly or wrongly, Gale knew where he stood.

To defend Hicks I'll guarantee that 90% of us watching thought it was a try on first viewing.The linesman should have seen it and asked Hicks to check with the video ref.
Luckily it didn't affect the result and we got one back with French's late try.

It's still unacceptable tho imo. You need to be as angry with these decisions as what you would be if it did cost us the game - that's the only way things will change. Accepting it as it didn't have an impact in the end is wrong as it let's them get away with incompetence.

Again I'll point towards the CC final last year. Can we honestly sit here and say that Hicks has learnt anything from that mistake? He's got the ability to refer decisions to a video - why doesn't he do it? Please don't tell me because of the time it takes either. I'd happily add an extra 10mins to every game to make sure it's fair.

In Union all trys are checked whilst the process of taking the kick is lined up. I can't see why if something so blatant is spotted that it isn't referred up to the video ref. As ultimately the only side that doesn't benefit (including the ref) is the one that shouldn't be benefiting from it anyway.

In the NRL any situation like the Briscoe try they send it up to the Bunker,i think we need to bring that in here as well

The leagues seem to have literally switched their approaches. It used to be that we went for everything and the NRL refs would give try’s on the spot but that’s totally flipped now. Our refs are giving close calls and the NRL are going for pretty much everything. I must admit it does get tedious watching the NRL refs going to the VR for pretty much anything but you don’t want to be on the end of calls like that on Sunday. It just needs a balance and in the main I think we’re closer to that here than the NRL.
