| I don't know much about him.
What's he like?
Applegarth says he's likely to break through as a Hooker but can play loose too.

| 3 years is massive, even for an academy prospect. Must be highly rated by the coaching staff.

| Been a long time since we produced a quality home grown hooker, Billy Conway the last unless I’m forgetting someone.

I would agree, the only decent ones that I can think of really since would be March and Wood (And it is probably fair to say the majority of his development was in the few years after the academy).
James Davey was fantastic in our Academy side, a lot of them were around that time but unfortunately most never really kicked on.
There was another young hooker that signed a pro deal with our academy a couple of years back, his name escapes me? Does anyone know if he is still at the club?
Hopefully this lad can kick on, 3 years sounds promising and with the success of recent youth in the likes of Batch and Crowther it gives me a little bit of faith that we can not just successfully plant them into a full time pro environment but keep hold of them for the future.

David March would be the other that springs to mind. There have been others but these two were regulars over a long period and significant players in the team.
Billy would have got honours under a more fashionable club in my opinion.

What happened to Brad Moules? Always impressed with him for the 19s and had a cracking game against that aboriginal side in 2016. Played once or twice for the first team later that year and then disappeared in 2017. Haven’t seen his name around the sport at all since.

He was helping Ryan Hudson with his junior training sessions at the indoor football at Pontefract for a bit, played a bit of touch rugby at BV last year, he did tell me what he was doing but my memory is dreadful now a days. Unsure if he mentioned Normy Knights. I thought that he had potential but when you’re in a full time environment people see other aspects that we don’t.

He did some coaching sessions for kids around 2017 with Joe Arundel and Jay Pitts up at Stanley which my son enjoyed a lot, he was struggling in his team at the time With some bullying off one of the coach’s sons and got a lot of encouragement from Bradley. And Joe for that matter as well.
Like I say I rated him from what I saw but what do I know Such a tough sport to crack at elite level

It’s one of the great mysteries of sport as to why some players don’t step up despite possessing obvious talent. I’ve often said that there are potentially more talented players watching the game from the stands than on the pitch at times.
Some young players flatter to deceive at junior level where a more mature body and mind can make a huge difference. But as things level up with age flaws appear. However some you just can’t explain.
FWIW I think a lot suddenly realise that there are easier ways to make a living and are just not willing to get battered for the entertainment of others.
I don’t blame them and I mean this in the nicest way, you have to have a certain mindset to play pro sport, a screw loose in some cases to play RL or any sport for that matter. RL however is the hardest sport, not because it’s tough but because it’s so tough yet offers so little reward in terms of both money and fame. All that pain and all that pressure for not very much, easy to figure.
You have to admire the kids who pursue the game into adulthood but it’s hard to blame those who do.
I suspect like so many Moules woke up one morning battered and bruised and decided this wasn’t for him. It’s a shame but with so little money in our game its inevitable.
That said he could for all I know discovered women, drink and song. Three things that derail most of us.
