Quote Hull East MP Karl Turner has launched a petition in a bid to get “specific, tailored support” for rugby league as the coronavirus crisis continues to put the squeeze on clubs.
With the sport on hold and uncertainty over when it will be safe to resume, a number of clubs have expressed concerns about the future of the game.
The furlough scheme has provided some welcome relief but Turner is demanding more support for rugby league.
After raising his concerns in the House of Commons and twice writing to Chancellor Rishi Sunak, Turner is now asking for support from fans.
“Rugby league clubs have been the heart and soul of our communities since they were founded, many well over a century ago,” he wrote in a petition titled ‘Dear Chancellor: Save Rugby League!'"
