For all those people now faced with the prospect of having to self isolate for weeks and maybe months and wondering how to pass the time, can I suggest something to do that is interesting, enjoyable and cheap.
Why not try writing a novel based on your own life and times. That is something that I started doing in 1988 and I have now written half a million words in six novels.
They were all inspired by three things. My interest and knowledge about rugby league, its history and its many characters, secondly my family tree going back to 1777 and thirdly the old saying about being at work that "They could write a book about this place. It would be a best seller."
Based on my experiences I have now written some general guidelines on how to get started. Contact me at
wgeofflee@gmail.com and I'll send them to you.
However if you prefer to read one of my novels first, can I suggest my latest which is called "Three Good Years". It has a background of work, family life, saving the NHS and Rugby League and set between 2006 and 2008. It is available from the publisher London League Publications. Visit them at
