| An alternative to the doom mongers ‘factual’ thread.
I’m in two minds as to whether another postponed match this weekend would be a good or bad thing.
Financially I’m sure it’s not great.
That aside, in pure playing terms would it help?
We are clearly still missing three crucial players, Brough and above all Arona and Fifita who both seem to transform the team. No doubt in my mind that we become a winning team when those two play. Another week might be enough for both or at least one.
Ditto they may be available for the rearranged gams, all three of them. Both home games as well.
On the down side you still have to win those games or else it’s worthless. If we get more not less injuries two games in a congested part of a season could be a disaster and both against top opposition.
To be honest both at the moment have more negatives than positives. But if I had to chose then I’d rather play those games later in the season in the hope that we get lucky with injuries and others don’t.
Not much comfort there I know and plenty of ifs and buts but sometimes clouds do have silver linings, fingers crossed.

| I was thinking exactly the same last night.
Financially, yes we could be worse off, although could we get a better crowd, a bit later in the season when the weather will hopefully have improved.
Also, we do tend to play better in drier conditions

Agree, but I think Warrington can play a bit on dry pitches as well!
I'd go for playing it now,I think we have more of a chance of a win on a heavy pitch, despite still missing influential players. .
In any event what we don't want is fixtures piling up later in the season.

| Imo We need to get some game time under our belts ASAP how else are we going to iron out our defensive/attacking structures .You can train all you want but it doesn’t make up for actually game time, these moves we have been keeping under wraps need to be executed in the heat of battle not on the training park.Get all the dropped balls, missed tackles sorted early in the season ,but I fear the elements will win again this weekend .

| At the minute the forecast for Sunday afternoon looks a bit better, I know they change it every 5 minutes, but I think the game will go ahead.......in a bog probably! Surely we need to play, if we get a cup run, trying to fit 2 games in later in the season can't be good really.

Will we miss Brough? For me he was playing poorly at HKR, his short kicking game was terrible before he got injured. He's probably played well in about 4 or 5 games since he came back to the club. I really hope Hampshire/Miller/Jowitt/Walker can forge some kind of connection and play well as combinations, we can't be relying on someone at 37 years of age to get us out of the mire!

Not really the point as it’s subjective especially based on one game! Regardless you still want all your senior players fit and ready to chose from.

Tend to agree, we need some team momentum and there is nothing more likely to thwart that than a bunch of players sitting about (due to the weather) getting on each other’s nerves.
One thing we need is team spirit and that only really happens on the pitch. So I hope we play. Don’t see any real chance of victory unless Warrington haves very bad day or we play brilliantly.
Finally if it goes ahead this for me is Hampshire big moment. He needs to step up. He doesn’t need to perform miracle whilst playing in the mud but he needs to take the lead and prove he can direct our limited forces with real gusto. As at HKR I want a performance, a win would be nice but they will eventually come so long as we perform to our best.
I really rate Warrington this year, they have gone up a notch imho.

More important for me than having everyone fit, is having certain players fit and playing to their max, ie, Fifita, Ashurst, Tupou, Tj, they are the crown jewels and we need them playing at their best week in week out. Next come probably Arona & Tanginoa, then we need the right fullback/halfback combo, then we need Kyle Wood playing at the levels of 2/3 years ago, Josh wood complementing him, Throw in Lyne, Westerman, King, Pitts for his workrate alone, so on and so on........sounds easy written down doesn't it?!

Whilst we all hope for the same from Hampshire, I suspect the "real gusto" on Sunday will be coming from Dennis !!!

| Thought we played some good rugby when woods came on for Randall after a bit of sting had gone out of the games ,and would be nice to get that going again albeit with josh instead of Randall . I don’t think josh will let anyone down and can really put his self about,Ive been impressed with his work ethics so far and think he’ll be a good solid addition to our squad .

I actually think strong winds are probably the biggest leveller you can get. Kicking and passing accuracy suffers greatly no matter how skilful you are as a team. Seeing as we seem to have forgotten the art of passing and seem to insist on playing one-man football we should be ok. Now watch our lot attempt to play like a Fiji 9's team

No, have you?
I’m guessing it’s fairly waterlogged but shouldn’t be cut up yet as I assume it’s barely been played on.

| We can compete with Warrington, I've no doubt. Although I do feel they've shown some great early glimpses. Maybe it's their year
If it goes ahead with the wind anything could happen. Dont really want a fixture backlog but that's GSO and match commissioner decision.

| Should the game be postponed on Sunday means that we would be facing our biggest enemies on the 21st, three weeks without any real match practice. It's hard enough to beat Cas when we're on a roll never mind when we're rusty from having played only one serious competitive game in that time.

You know if it were any other team I’d agree with you but not Cas. We’ve got ourselves in such a rut with this lot that imho if ever we are going to beat them it will be when you least expect it.
How we have let this happen baffles me, all through my early years watching Trin beating Cas was almost a given. In fact the last time we beat Cas was in 2015 with arguably the worst team we’ve ever fielded in SL. Since then abject surrender.

Well looking on the bright side redders, according to most on here we haven't got a chance against Warrington, so at least when we lose at Cas, we will have only lost 2 games
