The blame for play the ball @ ducks was on the players, So the RFL, said this season it will be cleaned up !!!
Having watched all sky super league matches, the referees are not up to the task, the being kendal, not once did he pull poor or incorrect play the ball !!
I do say this for all sides but wish to put a share of the problem on officials & not only all on the players !

Gadwin Springer showed you don't even have to play the ball in the right direction.

Yes a lot of Wigan fans and players got awfully worked up that a clearly concussed player wasn’t penalised for wrongly playing the ball after receiving a high tackle.

If the ref can give a knock on after Westerman was busy replacing his knee cap last season, why is it not a knock on for another injured playing the ball incorrectly?

The ref had already stopped play for the players safety. If the Wigan players had not harassed the ref it would have been play the ball insread of a penalty!

I thought he was pretty even handed. Whilst there were things from Toronto he could’ve picked up there was plenty from Wigan too.

Head to head isn't a penalty. Arms wrap around the chest, perfect legal tackle really.

Depends whether the ref has realised the player is injured AND stopped play or not. I've seen players with the bottom of their legs sticking out at right angles penalised for letting go of the ball before play has been stopped.

Springer had got up, faced the wrong way and played it incorrectly/dropped it BEFORE Kendall had blown the whistle.

Pretty sure last season at Magic Tautai between Wigan and Warrington were an injured player (Tauatai?) Released the ball after the tackle due to the injury and was given as a knock on.

It was reckless on isa's part, it was similar-ish to the mcilorum watts incident the other year in that the wigan player dashes out and across the line to put a reckless/overly aggressive hit on a ball carrier.

Doesn't matter if it was a clash of heads or not. The fact of the matter is once Springer stood up and was all over the place the ref had to stop the play. He was clearly concussed from a head knock.

Tautai was injured at Anfield, lay on the ground hurt and put the ball down. It was given as a knock on and led to blake Austin’s try.

I think the westerman was difficult as it was still in the process of the tackle so could be perceived as losing it attempting to play the ball etc. Springer was already past that stage and clearly disorientated and as someone mentioned ref had already called time off ( just) before losing it. If we take our club specs off we can surely see that is the better call by Kendall.

I think as a whole this season the ref's have started the season alright. You are still going to get errors the way the game is played and speed, but tell me a player who doesn't make efforts and I will call you a liar. I think all Sky games plus the KR games I have been too have flown fairly well, not a massive amount of penalties and generally have been better enjoyment then this time last year.

Think it's about time as a sport we grow up and stop bagging refs for miniscule decisions and technicalities and get on with the game. Big Big errors then fair enough, but I don't think you could classify any of them last night as that

I'm sat here watching it and just as I watched dit last night at the game Springer droppped/played the ball incorrectly BEFORE kendall blew.
That was the whole reason for Hastings complaint.
If kendall had blown BEFORE then no one would be having this conversarion.

May be harsh, but if a player releases the ball BEFORE the referee blows it has to be a knock on.
Otherwise players could drop the ball and then claim to be injured.

Magic last year tautai was injured, lay on the floor and placed the ball down and I think it was the same Ref called knock on.

I said that if you allow referees to let players play the ball again after they have released the ball due to an injury BEFORE the referee blows up then your basically leaving it open to players in future claiming theyre injured at the play the ball if they knock on.

Same ref last year at Magic gave a knock on against st Tauatai after he had been Injured when he placed the ball on the floor because of the injury. The referee hadnt blown up.
If kendall had blown up Before Springer knocked on (which he probably should have) then end of conversation. But he didn't.
