Expecting a close, tense and scrappy opener.
Despite this only being round one, both sides will be desperate to try and secure the win.
Performance doesn't matter as much as the "W".

Trinity by 6 (hopefully)

Both clubs hit by injuries in the forwards, close game with Wakey just shading it by one score.

Definitely a relegation 6 pointer !

Early season 4 pointer, both teams will be desperate for the win. I can see them both involved at the wrong end of the table.

Not really was like 2 bald men fighting over a comb. Wakey were still in it with 15 mins left but couldnt cut out the errors and HKR got a few 50/50 plays to stick.

Wakefield's handling and set completion plus being impotent in attack meant that they never had a chance of winning.

Apart from the soft try from DH, our goal line defence was much improved from what I’ve seen from a Rovers side.

Adam Quinlan is our main man and as long as he stays fit, we’ll be reet.

For those that went to the game did the ref penalise any incorrect PTB or not?

Not as it should’ve been. Hardly any correct play the balls. Nothing’s changed from last season but it soon would if the refs actually pinged players every time they neglect to touch the ball with their foot.

I'm OK with how they've policed the PTB. look its not perfect, as you said they could ping every single PTB that doesn't touch the foot. But it's no different to the policing of offside. How often does every single player get behind the referee?

There is a definite crack down on players trying to milk penalties (sarginson falling over because he had a hand on him would have won a penalty last year) it looks like the emphasis is finally going to be on the attacker to look after the ball.

Offsides can be difficult to police as everyone’s in motion, obstructing views etc. The refs watching the ptb and in that moment he only has to see the man playing the ball touch the ball with his foot or attempt very hard to if they miss it. Last night players was just rolling it between their legs with no attempt. I don’t think it’s to much to ask to get the biggest thing in our game right, indeed it is the biggest difference in rules when comparing league to Union say.

The problem is they are not policing it. Why announce a rule change and then just ignore it.

Watched two games on TV and while some players are actually touching the ball or at least making an attempt to touch the ball still far too many players are just rolling it back.

Either the refs have been told to ignore it which seems ridiculous when a new rule has only just been implemented or we just have weak refs who are too frightened blow for infringements incase it upsets people.

Seems to me they announced a crackdown and then told the players not to worry about it as it won't really come into play.

The problem is,refs like to blow their whistle on a whim unless it's an obvious penalty,and then they might not blow at that.
