| Just a thread to fill out the off-season (hope it doesn't descend into the usual bickering amongst the same posters)
So with England having a good series win over NZ and there being a bit of a feel good factor regarding England RL, who are the hot prospect players coming through your clubs academy that you're excited about that could pull on an England jersey in future. 3 years away until the WC, be interesting to see if in 3 years time any names on this thread make it. Shame we can't save it and look back in 10 years time and see how accurate (or wide of the mark we were with some of our presictions and what sort of careers they had)
At the Bulls:
Matty Storton - Second-Rower. Made his debut at 18 last year when we had no players. Played his second game towards end of season with about 2 games remaining of the regular season and performed so well he made himself undroppable for the play-offs and final.
Olly Wilson - Prop. Entering his third academy season. Made his first team debut this year and represented England academy. Really runs the ball in hard and didn't appear to have any consideration for his health.
Rowan Milnes - Stand-off. Entering third year in academy. Again represented England academy and made his first team debut. Still plenty of developing left in him, but you can seen the potential.
Kieran Brining - Centre/Wing. Just signed from scholarship and will be in his first academy season next year. But this kid looks good. If he makes it in SL, he will probably be the fastest player in the league and he looks a damn fine rugby player. One to watch.

| Hull FC:
Connor Wynne - exciting Full Back has just signed a 3 year deal. Massively rated in the junior set up. Quick, great balance, footwork and strength
Cameron Scott - came from Bradford a couple of years ago, and got a bit of 1st team last year. Looks a natural centre, looking forward to seeing him progress
Jack Brown - very good prop, powerful. Be interesting to see how he develops

| Hull KR
Will Oakes(wing) - played a handful of 1st team games but needs to learn from his mistakes.
Elliot Wallis(Wing) - Again played a couple of games for the 1st team, Looks a good prospect
Mikey Lewis(HB) - Along with Connor Wynne at Hull FC, he is an outstanding prospect signed by Hull KR from the joint academy. Him and Wynne were the best 2 players for the Academy.

How does the joint academy work in regards to signing a player? Is it first come first serve sort of thing?

The older ones were ring-fenced to the prospective clubs they had signed for prior to the merger of the academy. I think the 17's now were originally meant to be done as a draft system, but not sure if that has transpired. Connor Wynne was the first player to be signed from the non-ringfenced players and believe me, he is going to be some player. Same with Mikey Lewis, both very talented players

| Luke Hooley - A lad I'm really impressed with, played for us in the 19's and then was loaned out to Dewsbury and Oldham where by all accounts ripped it up. Got a bit of pace behind him and can also kick goals, very well rounded already at a very early age.
Excited to see whats to come.

You can add Kershaw to that though it would take one hell of an injury crisis fir a winger to get a break at Wakefield these days. Like the look of Yusif Adin but early days.

How olf is Will Oaks? I'm assuming he's the one that used to be in Wakefields Academy - and that seems a long time ago.

Good point.
I didn't comment on Kershaw as I haven't seen too much of him but looks to have settled in well with the squad (going from Instagram and social media), the lads really seem to have taken well to him. Adin looks a big lad as well.
Hope to see them feature in the preseason, perhaps Boxing Day! Which seems to be approaching rapidly lol!

Yeah, he's still just 19, which for me is pretty scary because it seems ages ago since I used to watch him play down Eastmoor but it's only about 5 years ago.

| Widnes
Ollie Ashall(full back): Broke into the first team last season and looks to have cemented his place at FB#
Owen Buckley(winger): Made a handful of appearances on the wing impressing every time
Ryan Ince(winger): Has played for a season or two on the wing , signed on again for next season.
Joe Lyons(stand off): Stepped in at stand off in the middle 8's producing some good performances.
Ted and Jay Chapelhow(Prop): Both 22 or 23 but have been regulars in the Widnes team since coming through
Owen Farnwroth (Prop): Made a couple of appearances but looks very handy for his age
There are 4-5 others who are stepping up this year aswell as Danny Craven and Tom Gilmore who came through the academy but are now 25
We have a wealth of good talent coming through at Widnes but they need support around them and quality which we've struggled with massively.

Been reading this forum for a couple of months now and I know there was a Widnes fan a while back who couldn't speak highly enough about Ted and Jay Chapelhow.

They’re okay and will make it for Widnes in the championship. Unsure about superleague.
If he stays fit, the one who stands out is Ollie Ashall Bott

At 22? The Chapelhow brothers are hardly Academy players anymore - they are the same age as Tom Johnstone.

Which is exactly why I said they’ve been regulars SINCE coming through the ranks, not that they are coming through.
They’ve only been around a couple of years max.
