| Looks like an interesting documentary on BBC Two Wales at 7pm tomorrow evening.
"The Rugby Codebreakers": Broadcaster and journalist Carolyn Hitt investigates why so many men gave up their dreams of playing rugby union for Wales, seeking fame and fortune among the mills of Lancashire and Yorkshire by committing an act that was considered tantamount to treason - switching codes to play rugby league. Her journey explores the impact of class, race and economic change on the game at the heart of Welsh identity.

Great programme for sure.
Sad to see Clive Sullivan not even get a mention on BBC sports personality of the year after the world cup win.
I do feel the RFL and the team shouldn't have gone to Australia when it was made clear Roy Francis would not be allowed to travel.
Should have made a stand and said it's unacceptable.
The story about Widnes signing Jonathan Davis and then stopping in the pub on the way home was classic.

An amazing and insightful documentary of how Black players were treated by the welsh RFU back then
RL gained some wonderful and talented players from Wales over the years due to the Welsh RU's racist opinions and their decision to stay amateur (COUGH) and to not pay their players legitimately
I'd recommend this programme to all RL fans

superb show, we should get the presenter to present the CC.
it showed our game in a great light especially our attitude to black player, 1986 before a black player player for wales. that could have been a show on its own.
the RFU and WRU were shown up for what fascists there were and still are. everybody should see this show and we would win tonnes of new fans, but suspect the RFU would have it banned.

Tony Collins is a Rugby (both codes) historian, writer etc, and has written a number of books on the subject. His book about the great split "1895 And All That" is a good read.

Finally got round to watching this. A superb documentary and an eye opener to what some of our much loved legends went through. As others have said, RU's loss was leagues gain and many who switched will be club legends in another 100 years. Boston at Wigan, Jones at Leeds, Foster at Bradford, Risman at Salford. Imagine not having these players associated with their respected clubs.
