Who do we reckon is first for the chop? I want names and reasons.

My guess is either Cunningham at Saints or Betts at Widnes.

Saints fans were getting frustrated last year, I don't think their recruitment has been that inspired and today's result against Cas could be an indication of things to come in the early rounds until the injured personnel are back.

Widnes might find themselves in a dogfight at the foot of the table this year, the pressure of which might force Steve O' Connor's hand and bring a new coach in.

The top 5 look easy to pick this season with Wigan and Warrington likely to finish 1 & 2 and than Hull FC Saints and Cas likely to finish 3,4,5.
After that, its really difficult to see how the rest of the table will shape up.
I dont agree about Saints, who seemed to work out how to win games in the second half of the season and they will be among the top 4/5 this time.
Huddersfield and Leeds dont look to have recruited overly well and it will be interesting to see how Widnes go without Brown.
After that, any team that struggles to register an early "W" could find themselves fighting to avoid the bottom 4 and it could be any of the other 7 clubs (excluding those that I think will maker up the top 5).
Leeds will be hoping to bounce back as will Huddersfield and it's possible that Catalan may be first to show their coach the door.
It's going to be another great season and if it's anything like as unpredictable as last year, we're all in for a treat.

So Saints lost a friendly so Cunningham should be sacked. I remember in 2012 and Barcelona lost 4 out of 5 friendliest against top teams like alaves, go ahead eagles, sassulo and man united. Then they went and won the league and champions league. Friendles mean nothing

You could also sack the players who are not doing their job, but then according to most, any problems are never ever the players fault always someone else.

Kevin Brown leaving Widnes and not being replaced leaves Betts looking extremely vulnerable to me and he'd be my tip.

Brian McDermott could be a shout of Leeds aren't performing after a couple of months.

Obviously it will depend on how the season goes but if it doesn't go too well I'd say the coaches under most pressure would be
Catalan-St.Helens-Leeds and to a lesser extent Widnes.

wane, radford, powell and probably smith will be safe. wouldn't like to bet against any of the other clubs. catalans would be the favourite for me though

With Joe Mellor out injured for the first two months then it adds even more pressure on Widnes. Probably can't count out Watson at Salford if they get off to a slow start.

Doubt McDermott will get sacked mid-season if we're struggling. More likely it announced that this will be his final season and his replacement for 2018 announced. Even if Leeds do well the above scenario may happen.

With Brown gone and Mellor injured could it work in Betts's favour as far as the sack race is concerned? Widnes have been building bit by bit and trying to improve but this year the expectation might be survival?

I do, it's very obvious so many don't watch but see what they want to see and always believe their lot is someone else's fault no matter what.
It's never ever the players fault for anything. It's an easy cop out.

The difference is, he can drop an under-performing player, it's his call, & therefore his head in the noose.

Either Timothy Sheens at Hull KR or Geoffrey Toovey at Bradford will be the first to be sacked, because both the owners want a rapid return to Super League in the face of the challenge from the powerful Toulouse club this year, and the hopeless prospects of beating Toronto in 2018.

Both Sheens and Toovey are untested at this level.

It is hard to see how well they will do given all the naysayers on this board.

Bradford won't sack Toovey because a) they can't afford to and b) are not gunning for promotion this time. We are starting on -12 points with a threadbare squad and all set for a relegation dogfight. We won't be anywhere near the super 8s for years to come.
Rovers won't sack Sheens because they will coast through the season in one of the top two spots and his pedigree as a coach won't be properly tested until the playoffs begin in September.

ill have a guess that this could be the first season in a long time that no coach gets the bullet! only one seems at risk imo

smith-gets wire to finals, maybe one day they will win the big one, maybe one day there will be world peace lol
radford-seems pretty safe with pearson in charge
cunningham-a good finish always seems to get saints coach off the hook

stone at hudds seems to be given time to build
betts seems to get his widnes team to perform against all odds (see how they do without brown)
mcdermott seems untouchable at leeds so probably safe this year
powell- no pressure with the SL Champions 2017 elect this season by all accounts!
jukes-got leigh up, should be ok this season to see how his team goes
watson-marwan will want a stable season without any dramas (i hope)

two coaches who need to prove are chester at wakey, signed some good players, can he get them all to gel!

french guy-catalan dont make the 8 he could be a goner!

Juksey will be safe this season.

Newly promoted, some new players signed, players left. I think we need a few games yet to fully come out of the starting block to make any assessment.

Plus Juksey's coaching is far better than the gung-ho approach we had the season before, so yeah...he will be fine.
