I think if they can encourage Harry to support the game in any way, it can only be an improvement.
Harry and William were famously photographed watching (I think) the British Lions in Australia.

How good would it be for our sport to get them talking about rugby league, and how much better than the other game it is (ok, baby steps maybe).

They (the royals) are not interested in RL, not one bit.
We haven't been able to get any of them anywhere near our show piece events for years.

RL is not part of "The Establishment" and probably never will be.

Prince Harry is a rah rah through and through. He wouldn't wipe his arris with rugby league.

Once reason Prince Harry may be more active in his support is the military connection.

1. RL has strong links with northern regiments.

2. The current RFL President is a senior RAF officer.

3. The Chief of Defence staff is Sir Stuart Peach - a very active RL supporter who, I think, presented the Challenge Cup in 2011

Added to that is his active engagement in mental health charities which Rugby League is a class leader in amongst sports.

A referee that was also an ex serviceman.

Excellent point. No way should the game attempt to engage with him in any way, shape or form. We'd only see the game plastered across the dailies or on the national news if we were unlucky enough to get him, or heaven forbid his brother, to attend the odd game. No way do we want that.

This thread is an embarrassment to the spot of RL.
The Royals have wanted nothing whatsoever to do with our sport in many, many years.
For ANYONE to say that any of them will be interested in RL is fantasy island stuff and for us to court them to try and make them interested, just makes us look desperate

If England were to make the final of a home World Cup I wouldn't be suprised to see him show up at the game.

Personally I'm not in the slight bit interested whether or not any of the royal family attend games. They are all into Polo and hunting, both of which are still minority sports which the majority of people have no interest in.

Not so much minority more exclusive.

If and it is a big if; Harry or Bill got involved it could only bode well for the game.

I still wouldn't sing the national anthem.

A late entry in the "post of the year" stakes

Harry is good friends with Captain Ibi Ali who he did the Antarctic treck with for walking with the wounded. Ibi is league through and through (only played in Rotherham and at Staffordshire uni - expansion will never work...) and says Harry likes all sports and certainly didn't have a bad word about league and reckons he'll come to events when invited. We just need to use him correctly in the World Cup build up. It won't happen.

Well known they lost interest when Fax moved to The Shay. Regulars in Scratching Shed prior to that.
