| Are these threads only restricted to televised games?
Big game for both teams tonight, both coming into it on the back of gusty wins at the Magic Weekend. Can't really tell which way this one will go.

| Of course they aren't I would assume the talk for non televised games might be less contributed to though for obvious reasons. Interesting game in prospect! Phil Clarke reckons Wakefield are about to go on an 8 game losing streak after winning all but one of their past 6-7 games. Massive one for Salford, if they lose this I can't see them picking themselves up fast enough to avoid the middle eights. Both teams' 19:
[iSalford Red Devils (from): Bibby, Dobson, Evalds, Flanagan, G Griffin, Hauraki, Jones, Joseph, Kopczak, Krasniqi, Lannon, Lui, Murdoch-Masila, O'Brien, S'au, Tomkins, Vidot, A Walne, J Walne.
Wakefield Wildcats (from): Anderson, Annakin, Arona, Arundel, Ashurst, England, Finn, Hall, Johnstone, Jones-Bishop, Jowitt, Kirmond, Lyne, Miller, Scruton, Simon, Sio, A Tupou, B Tupou.[/i
Carney missing from the Salford lineup which is a blow, Evalds replaces him.
Wakefield bring back Reese Lynn and Anthony England.

| It's a big game. Phil Clarke has predicted Wakey will win just the one game from the next 8 even though Hull are the only team to beat them since Chester took over.
Hoping Wakey can get the win and start to put pressure on Saints.

| Could go either way. I'm hoping that home advantage will pip it in our favour, and hope we don't miss Carney too much. Evalds is a capable replacement. Wakey flying high, but all good things must come to an end (look at Leeds ) and we're strong at home. Will be a cracking game I'm sure.

| Seems I was overly pessimistic. Salford put in a decent performance to end Wakeys run.

| Classy performance from Salford. Our lack of discipline contributed but taking nothing away from the Red Devils. I just hope we can improve for Hull KR which is another big game. Race for the top 8 getting interesting!

| Well that’s my brief illusions of grandeur over.
For a short time I’ve felt like I was supporting a top side, hey-ho, back to reality.
I’m sure after years of misery I’ll soon adjust, unlike some Leeds fans right now .

| Not wishing to bash Salford, BUT...the owner must be secretely getting fed up now with the realisation that the support is never going to pick-up. 3000+ for a Super League game is shocking. Didn't he have visions of 10,000+ attendances when he took over? I still genuinely believe that it's largely geography that's the problem; in that area you simply have too much competition for support. I haven't looked at domestic RU attendances lately, but I'd wager that Sale draw three times as many people as were there last night.
He is clearly passionate about our sport, but ATEOTD he is first and foremost a businessman, and such people do not acquire their fortunes by throwing it away for extended periods of time.
I still fear for Salford that he might realise he was mistaken about their potential and pull the plug at any time.

He might want to take that advice from the Catalans owner who has managed to almost double their crowds since joining Super League.....

| It's a disappointing crowd. Didn't look that low to me, I would have put it more like 4500. I know about 8 regulars who weren't there cos of half term hols but that must affect all clubs the same I guess
Take nothing away from the performance though, we did a good job on Wakefield. Looked like we wanted it more than them which was nice for a Salford fan. Thought the same after Widnes too. Hopefully it's a sign that the players are responding in the right way to the point deduction. Think we'll have to play better against Wigan next week though
Thanks to Wakefield fans - no griping, they've just taken the loss. And the chairman on Twitter praising Joe Cobb (who I thought had a good game). Makes a refreshing change

Marwan wont walk :-
a) He signed up to a long term CVA (10 yrs +) to repay old creditors
b) He wont walk away from his personal £5 mill + input
c) He loves Rugby League
Sale - Their attendances vary between 3,000 & 8,000 depending on away followng.
The new road will help ease of access and with luck attract new fans.

| Sadly, the area is a football-orientated region. Two of the "top 5 clubs" play very close and many RL clubs would kill for the support other football teams get ... even lowly Stockport.
I would hate to compare to Sale's figures as they are more successful at marketing/media and (more importantly) the way they are counted differs from how Salford counts their crowd.
Yes, it's a concern.

| Nothing has changed since Marwan took over. We had a brief spell of major marketing after signing the likes of Chase, Puletua, Meli, Hock, Morley, Hansen etc and I remember the crowd for that first game of the season vs Wakefield was 6,500. Since the disasters which were the two seasons that's followed our marketing had died a death and as a result crowds have gone back to what I would consider the "core" support.
This is the best Salford team (granted not on paper) that we've had for many years, they play some very entertaining stuff and deserve a bigger effort from the club from a marketing perspective. We don't even do the basics ie posters in and around Salford etc.

| Just checked: in "Division One" (the new-speak version of the 3rd Division), Wigan Latics averaged 9467, Oldham Latics 4361, Bury 3751, and Rochdale 3098. This division is not seen as an attractive place to attract fans. But even Stockport County average 3082 and FC United of Manchester average 3394 and they are/were not in a national division.
If we go up to the Championship, we go into the 10000+ area for the Three Bs.
Then there is the TV audience: I have friends who watch 3-4 matches a weekend.
RL is a very junior relative.

| Salford played very well and were clinical with ball in hand.
It looked a game too far for Wakefield and the short turnaround didn't help (plus the poor discipline).
Salford could be a dark horse in the 8's, especially if they get some points back.
