Sad decision. He did not give himself a complete chance in the NFL. Now the 49ers will never take him back, and I doubt that another NFL team will. What a shame. The Olympics would still have been there 4 years from now.

| Dropped from the roster on the back of his team (tbh mostly Kapernick who is a one trick/one season pony) being a bag o e so maybe he didn't fancy it.
Niners fans reckoned he had a good shot at the 53 especially with Chip Kelly at the helm but I haven't being keeping an eye on reports from early season camps.
His decision ateotd

| Why on earth is it sad? I'm still waiting for the mysterious bonanza that was coming to RL from Hayne's NFL career. Will we get some kind of bonus if he's a star at the Olympics?
He also needs to shut up about dreams. What next - he tries out for figure skating at the Winter Olympics as he's always dreamt of wearing a tutu on ice?

| Who cares what an EX-NRL player is doing after failing in an American Game?
What's this got to do with RL? Or shall we just talk about what ex League players are doing these days?

Imo didn't stand much chance making the 53 unless it's on special teams as a punt returner although he still wouldn't be favourite for that. That would be Bruce Ellington or Deandre White. As for running backs he'd be behind Carlos Hyde, Shaun Draughn, DuJaun Harris, Mike Davis and Kelvin Taylor all vying for 53 man squad and that's without Hayne.

Late April and the niners forum fans were still bigging up his chances even in front of sone of those you mentioned as well as the possibility of a linebacker (outisde LB I would think). his versatility is attractive also but it matters not now

| No chance Hayne could have played OLB, he'd have to weigh in the region of 250 - 270 pounds to play there. He'd be going up against 300 plus pound defensive line men.
I expect to see Hayne back in the NRL next season. Roosters have always wanted him but with there backline I can't see him heading there.

Roosters only have $600,000 under the cap as of now. They would still have to unload someone good to make a place for Hayne. Anyway not sure that he would want to play against Parramatta, where he is a hero.

You obviously then don't understand the sport in the slightest if you think an outside Linebacker who is a DEFENDER is going to be playing against the DEFENSIVE lineman.
Do you even know the role of an Outside linebacker? 270lbs, more like 240-255lb otherwise they just wouldn't have the mobility and athleticism required for the role.
It's much much more about technique, attitude/desire, reading of the play/opponent/game than outright weight, you simply have no idea.

Wow I made one mistake Offensive linemen, happy?
You're not just a pr!ck on the Hull forum but on the VT too.
Hayne would be playing in a 3-4 defence and if ended up at OLB (which he wouldn't) he'd be competing with Arron Lynch and Eli Harold who both weigh in at 270 and 265 pounds. he wouldn't be effective as a pass rusher at all and would struggle with positioning and stopping the run.
It must be a struggle for you to have a normal conversation, bless.

| Pernell McPhee weighs 280 pounds and Quinton Coples weighs 290 pounds, and guess what they both play OLB. So weighing 250-270 wouldn't be an issue for Hayne whatsoever. So for spoiling your nonsense.

Not quite correct. Roosters do have $600k available on cap, but as the season would be over half way complete by the time Hayne would join, they'd only need to count half a seasons salary on this years cap... So, if they were to sign him on $1.2m a season, the 2nd half of this season would only cost $600k on the cap... All very convenient, particularly as that sort of salary would put him in line with the very top earners in the game, and the Roosters were wining and dining him when he was in Aus, he was spotted in a restaurant with Trent Robinson (all a coincidence they claimed) and Nick Politis even lent him a super car...

| It was Fiji (rank1) v England (rank 9) first match Hayne was on the bench.
Fiji were rubbish England won easy, Hayne came on in the second half only touched the ball once, took it to the line and past it on to winger that took it into contact and tried to offload back to Hayne but went straight into England players hands for a try.
two more group matches to come but I don't understand the coverage as it ended before we got to see Fiji's second group game?!?
