Let me start by saying I am a big fan of Heremaia.

Looking at the incident from this weekends game is any one else puzzled that he hasn't received a ban (a lengthy one at that).

After the high shot from Scott Moore (il come back to that), Heremaia comes in there is a bit of fisticuffs nothing major the kinda thing you see every week. But after that as things are calming down he goes again attacking Scott Moore on the floor looks very nasty to me.

But I do understand why his emotions were high as the high tackle for Moore was one of the worst Iv seen in a long while. He has attacked Ah Vans head (in my opinion), A premeditated attack (attempt to injure) seeking revenge for the previous tackle. And I think Moore was lucky also to just get 2games.

A lot has been said about Ah Vans tackle and it was a bad one, but I don't feel it was an attempt to spear just he was trying to dominate the tackle and miss timed it.

Don't get me wrong I'm not condoning the Ah Van tackle and 5games is probably about right, but for me it is the 2nd incident that was a real nasty one.

He was not charged on the basis of your opinion though, it was not found to be a premeditated attack to the head.

The panel have to decide what it was and they said initial contact was below shoulders (which ref initially signalled) but that there was eventually a forceful contact with the head for which he has been punished.

FWIW it did look to me as if it was "payback time" but even if it was, there is no law against trying to hit your opponent as hard as you can just below the shoulders. If it goes wrong, as it did, you face the consequences.

It does seem clear that the first contact was NOT with the head. If he had set out to twot him on the head deliberately, then unless he is blind, it would have been.

Seriously! I think I've heard it all now, wasn't even the worst tackle in the match - I despair.

So let's just be clear.

Ah Van actually got 6 matches, reduced to 5 for an early plea

Moore got a match for running in to the Ah Van tackle incident, reduced to nothing for early plea
Got 2 matches for the high tackle. Although they said the tackle started on the shoulder, contact was made to the head. He was pushed to the maximum as he has 5 cases in the last 2 years so is a repeat offender
Got nothing for punching as he was on his back and difficult to see any punches thrown. Although ref said punches were thrown, as he was in the middle of a group of aggressors, no further action needed.

So they assessed it as serious, but not as serious as you thought.
