| How can there be three versions of this sport? We're already another version of another sport which already confuses most of the general public in this country (I'm from Manchester and I regularly talk about rugby league to people and the amount of people who say "is that the one Sale Sharks play in?" is ridiculous!)
I didn't feel that Saints were hard done to last night by that call, the lad should have known, but it highlights a poor aspect of our sport. The rules should be identical in every league and again at International level.
The RLIF need to standardise the rules/regulations/laws of our game and implement those laws across the entire world.

From my interpretation The RFL were in full support of the international fedaration fixing the rules, but our friends down under have shown little respect for the rest of the world. They run the NRL as a totaly seperate sport & bring in neww rules with little regard to any one else. If it won't suite the Sydney clubs then forget any help.

That is just it, they change it on a whim to suit them whenever they like. All the governing bodies need to come together and make it rules for all accross the board and have discussion for change at meetings every end of season but that won't happen, The NRL want to do their on thing, so unless we just want to tag along with whatever they say goes, things will stay the way they are which is of course ridiculous for the game.

| Completely agree that the rules should be unified - it's utter madness the situation we find ourselves in. But Walsh should have known the rules the game last night were being played to - though I suspect he was playing on instinct at that point.
One thing that did confuse me though was the later yellow card for foul play - I thought that interpretation was a SuperLeague decision - I didn't think a yellow could be given for foul play in international rules? Can anybody clarify?

I am not sure how the yellow card works in international rule (but that is the problem) unless we allow the NRL to decide & we follow blindly it will stay confusing, My bet is that the criminals do away with scrums next? there apears to be a push from some people down under.

| As others have said the problem is the NRL. They keep changing their rules without regard for the sport as a whole. So the only way the RFL can unify the rules is to essentially allow the NRL to write the SL and International rules. Which I wouldn't like at all.
The problem is the lack of a truly independent and authoritative overarching governing body for the sport.

| You can't blame the NRL solely for this shambles. The RFL have implemented many a rule in independence from the International rule i.e the free play after a knock on. The blame IMO solely lies with the RLIF for not standing up to the relevant nations.

Which is nothing compared to the plethora of NRL rules that have been changed over the years. I reserve 90% of the blame for the NRL. They are the ones who held back the international game and who continue to do so, and are the reason why the RLIF has no teeth. You can't blame the RLIF, they have no control or authority whatsoever over virtually anything other than handing out a paltry amount of international funding.
That control and authority can only be given up by the RFL and NRL.

| Quite pleased the Aussies are clamping down on playing the ball with the foot, it was the defining difference after the great split, should bring back striking for the ball at the PTB too

| No way to striking at the play the ball. The play the ball is messy enough as it is.
