| just looking at some of the games from that years competition, some unbelievable scorelines and crowds
some of the crowd figures posted would be highly unlikely today,
doncaster v sheffield, 2,585
huddersfield v halifax, 9,643
keighley v dewsbury 3,815
oldham v bramley, 2,788
whitehaven v wakefield 2,092
workington v hull, 3,081
keighley v huddersfield, 5,700
workington v leigh, 3,436
leeds v workington 15,452
oldham v huddersfield, 8,182
whitehaven v featherstone, 4,119
workington hammered leigh 94-4 and hull 30-6!, although they were a pretty good side then,
hunslet drew 32-32 with salford
oldham and featherstone both played in the semi finals!

| Fortunately whilst there's been a drop in crowds for the cup there's been a big increase in crowds for the league.
The average crowd in 94/95 was 5,500.
It's obvious from the drop in cup and playoff gates compared to regular season attendances that people aren't willing to pay extra for games. They will turn up for season ticketed games.

| As a Huddersfield fan I remember the great win against Halifax. I also recall the quarter final defeat at the Watersheddings.

I remember the Leigh game like yesterday !!
It was a dark era for the club and Worky played some good stuff, but my God, we was bad !!!
In regards to attendances, I think there is a massive connection in this particular era being before Super League. The small to median clubs were well supported and I feel most have been gobbled up by SL teams or indeed left the sport due to the change.

| Ithink one of the things it shows is what an absolute joke and disgrace it remains that Keighley got shafted the way they did for the benefit of London. The Cougars had the fanbase, business model, everything (except a modern ground fit for SL in '96, but besides Hudds I'd struggle to think ofany club who DID have that in '95!).

| As a Cougars fan, I have tried to forget that 30 - 0 scoreline, always enjoyed those games, there were some fab Cougars vs Huddersfield matches in that era, great atmosphere as well. didn't Huddersfield win a match in one of the earlier rounds 144 - 4 that season?

Nope no there wasn't. No cup those years.
I only seem to remember 1999 for some reason. Although I remember laughing hysterically in 1998.

Regal Trophy in '94, 142-4 v Blackpool Gladiators, still a world record score in pro rugby league !!

Didn't Mick Higgins, the chairman at the time, make the players hand back their club blazers after the game saying they weren't worthy of wearing them?

as daz says, 142-4, amazingly though only a day before or after can't remember which, Barrow beat Nottingham 138-0 so the world record margin was broken and equalled in the space of 2 days.
but yes the keighley-huddersfield rivalry was something else in those days, massive crowds from both sides and some tremendous games, am i right in saying that keighley had won something like 22 home games in a row before the 30-0?
