If true, then this would be a mistake for Salford for all the reasons you list above plus lots more

He is still a high quality player, despite his indiscretions. I can't believe he would command too high a salary.

I would expect he's looking for top money

He does have all the attributes to be an absolutely top class player; unfortunately, he also seems to have quite a few that will prevent him from doing so. SL needs a few pantomime villains and I don't think Ryan Bailey can shoulder that mantle all on his own - for that reason, I hope Hock does go to Salford.

As a Salford fan I'm inclined to agree with the sentiment that he's just a little bit too much of a bell-end. Although, I'd still love to see him in a Salford shirt. Go figure.

It was when Wigan where under the stewardship of Noble Gareth started taking cocaine, Noble has already failed in taming Hock. Most Wigan fan's hoped Maguire and Wane could finally convert him to a level headed player and man but they both failed in equal measure.

Some people are beyond redemption. Sadly it appears that the otherwise talented Mr. Hock is one such person.

Salford are in a building process. They can't jut hope to jump from bottom to top in one big jump. Players of Hock's ability will be short term gains. He is extremely talented, like it or not. He won't stay around long, but he'll add enough to attract others.

How many instances do you need, and the Salford deal has nothing to do with it.

Perhaps that's why we may be bidding for him.

We don't seem to have someone to protect our younger players: the knocks to his head our young scrum-half is taking is notable. Would some of those bullies do it they were aware that Hock would be tackling them soon after?

In this respect Hock is not an enforcer, he is a liability..

In the current climate, it's impossible for a so-called hard man to seek retribution when other players are targeted - the RFL's hardline approach to all things biff means that the myth of the enforcer has been well and truly put to bed.

Even so, I don't see Hock like that - his brain-farts have largely occurred without rhyme or reason; had Ben Harrison attacked a smaller player when Hock tried to gouge his eyes out?

No one got belted at Wigan whilst he was playing. Now he's gone players are getting hit late on a regular basis.

I think not, to quote Brian Foley "Gareth was what you'd call a character when he joined us ... a streetwise lad and it could have gone either way for him". If you think he's never tried drugs before Brian I would think again.
