| Wyong Roos are trying to join comp for 2013 season. But as a stand alone.
Albury are joining in 2014 and they will be the feeder club for the Melbourne Storm. Woohoo 6-7 hours on a coach from Sydney. Nice one. NOT.

| So expandig to actually make this resemble a NSW Cup, instead of just a "NSW" (Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong) Cup has Sydney people whinging about travel. Imagine my surprise.
That's why this comp is a joke and will never go close to matching the Qld Cup. It's a Sydney-centric reserve grade flimsily dressed up as a statewide comp.
PS: They have an airport in Albury, believe it or not.

Might actually have a reason to call it the NSW Cup now, instead of the Sydney Cup...

We fly to Auckland once a year. We would bus it to Canberra also but they're in with the mounties.
You QLDers think nothing of 7 hours on a bus. To remark on an import like myself's (who is not from Sydney but lives there at present) flippant comment about traveling and linking it to why an entire state's competition is a joke is a tad generalising is it not?
This season there are conversations about the opening game of the NRL Grand Final being between the winner of the NSW and the QLD Cup. Let's see if it comes to fruition.
P.S. Clubs don't have the funds to fly to Albury. Believe it or not.

| Qld Cup clubs from the SE fly to Rockhampton, Mackay and Cairns every year (and obviously the central/northern clubs fly south all the time). And do they whinge about travel? Do they whinge about not being able to afford it? No.
That's because it is a true state comp. The clubs also have their own identities, good support and a proper TV deal. "NSW" Cup has none of this. If you don't want to travel more than an hour to a game don't play in what is supposed to be a state wide comp. The only thing that is surprising is why the hell Albury, or anyone else, would want to play in this joke of a comp. They'd be better off playing in Group 9.

Feel better now? I whinged, yet once again it's the whole league as far as you're concerned. You are a funny one.
Am I to take it that you think the NSW Cup is a joke?

| "the whole league", what league? It's reserve grade. It's not its own league. The NRL is a league. The "NSW" Cup is its reserve grade dressed up as something separate. And I doubt most people involved would whinge about travelling, because at present none of them do. Newcastle is as far as they go. I doubt they even know that NSW extends beyond that.

NSW = Newcastle - Sydney - Wollongong
Everyone knows this

| I have to admit. The repsonses form our queensland friends is funny.
Because as a foreigner, it's exactly the sort of thing the fair people of NSW say about Queenslanders... apart from travelling of course. You lot win that hands down up there. Didn't anyone up there think about living closer together at all?
As an FYI. Wyong are IN now. And have a rather large budget compared to other clubs. So we have 13 teams now for 2013.
One serious question for you both is what do Queenslanders think about having a team from New South Wales in the comp up there. Would you prefer not to?

ECT isn't a Queenslander. He just talks a lot of sense which is probably why he is commonly mistaken for a Queenslander.
No problem with Tweed Heads in the QLD comp. Just as there shouldn't have been any probs with Manly and Canberra fielding their reserve teams in the QLD Cup.
If states lines ever interfere with the good of the game then common sense should win out. Pity under the NSW dominated ARL that never happened and we had so many retarded situations because of the Sydney-based morons running the game into the ground.

If you are talking about Wyong, they are one of the richest Rugby League clubs going around.
In the last 20 years or so they have bought up 7 licensed clubs on the central coast and own around 100 million worth of real estate including golf courses, tennis clubs, a dozen football fields etc etc etc.
All this is owned by the football club - not a seperate body, but the same board who runs the RL team manages a 100 million dollar business.
A few years ago they ran and funded the Central Coast Storm as a feeder club for Melbourne, and then the ran and funded the Central Coast Centurions as a feeder club for the Knights.
They go into the comp with a 400k budget for player payments, and probably about the same for coaching and training staff.

which is a lot more than other existing clubs in the comp. Only difference is that they all get players back from the NRL to play in their team.
There is much talk again about having the State Cup games as the curtain raiser for NRL games instead of the U20s. There may be a hitch though as the feeder clubs may not want to play their home games at the NRL clubs venue. ie. Mounties would play all their home games at Canberra Stadium etc. etc.
