| Scott Prince at 31 is a good signing.
Think he might have got a 4 year deal which is stretching it a bit, but I'm sure the 4 years was the clincher

And has probably the best engine in the league.
On the other hand, whilst I havn't looked into other teams, Hull must have the youngest 3/4 line in Superleague. Avarage age of Briscoe, Yeaman, Arundel and Lineham is 23.3, and if Yeaman picks up a knock and Ben Crooks plays left centre it would be 20.8 with Briscoe the elder statesman at 22.

Cudjoe 24
McGilvary 24
Wardle 21

Manu to Saints is bigger than Holdsworth.

Smell the fear from the Rovers fan
Warrington have done pretty well with Morley (35), Briers (34), Hodgson (34), Carvell (32), Higham, (32), Monaghan (32), Waterhouse (31).
Prince will be a great signing - Dally M winner as recently as 2010.
I appreciate you are buzzing at the high profile signings of Tuimavave, Caro, Burns and Brown.

Or even 2 years ago when he won the Dally M award
It's a bit rich coming from a fan who team signed Stan Gene when it was in his 40's.
How old was Allan Langer when at Wire?
Prince still 8 years the junior of Steve Menzies, a positive rookie.

Throw in the signings of Watts and Pitts whom were not at Hull at the start of last season and the average age plummets.

| Since that start of last season, Hull FC have released/lost 10 senior players.
McKinnon (31)
O'Carroll (25)
Martin (34)
Sharp (26)
O'Carroll (25)
Manu (32)
Moa (26)
Turner (23)
McGoldrick (31)
J. Ellis (23).
The average age of this group of players is 28.
We have also signed the following 9 senior players since the start of last season:
G. Ellis (31)
Galea (34)
Prince (32) (Assuming this happens)
Holdsworth (2icon_cool.gif
Johnson (24)
Crookes (22)
Arundel (21)
Pitts (22)
Watts (22)
The average age of these 9 players is 26.
This is 2 years younger than the average age of the outgoing senior players.
Whilst the squad has lost quality players such as Manu and Moa, you will be hard-pushed to find 3 better signings than Ellis, Prince and Holdsworth.
This post isn't including youth players such as Lyne, Pearce, and L. Cunningham leaving. This is due to them all being replaced internally by academy players, and also due to the emergence and performances of Crooks, Kent, Green and Bowden from our academy.
Disclaimer: There's a chance that I've missed out players, but I think that I mentioned pretty much all of them.

You'll be still classed as a junior, give it a couple of years and they may start to show some interest!!!!!

Except you have counted O'Carroll twice and McGoldrick could be on both lists but probably neither for the point you are making, which probably moves the average age of departing players down. It seems, broadly speaking average age will be neutral. I don't recall Hull's team being too old last season, so that is probably fine.
In reality Ellis looks a damn fine signing, Prince would only be considered a risk due to length of Contract, a good 2 year signing would have attracted far less comment, so perhaps 1 year of risk there, but no doubt a calculated risk.
I am not convinced that Holdsworth's signing on its own would figure on most observers top signing lists, but as a complimentary signing to Prince and Ellis it looks more astute.
Hull next season will be hoping to avoid injuries to a core of players (Lynch, Houghton, Ellis, Prince, Holdsworth, Briscoe), to balance cap thet must be thinner elsewhere to invest in that quality, there must be a lot of salary cap invested in that group and a couple of long term, concurrent injuries to that group will be difficult to cope with. But then again which teams can cope with loss of multiple key players?
Dads army? Probably not, but if the plan works for you who cares?

=#0080BFOops, didn't notice that I'd put O'Carroll in twice. That means that the average age of of outgoing players is larger.
Second list was players signed since the start of last season that are still contracted for next year.
In reality Ellis looks a damn fine signing, Prince would only be considered a risk due to length of Contract, a good 2 year signing would have attracted far less comment, so perhaps 1 year of risk there, but no doubt a calculated risk.

=#0080BFYeah, I was meaning that as a group you would find it hard to list a better 3 this offseason or in many of the previous years.
=#0080BFLast season we looked completely lost whenever Houghton was missing. I expect Holdsworth and Prince to solve this issue, but Houghton basically runs our side and we'll be struggling whenever he can't play.
I'm mostconcerned about a lack of depths in our backs. We only have 3 recognised centres (Yeaman, Arundel, Crooks) and two of those missed significant amounts of last season with injuries. There also isn't much experience in Arundel and Crooks, although they have potential.
Dads army? Probably not, but if the plan works for you who cares?'"

| Whiting is a very accomplished centre and Horne could play there at a push so I aren't worried there. Wing is more of an issue. Briscoe is world class, and Lineham has the makings of been world class imo, but both him and Crookes are reletively unproven at this level and if they do struggle we don't really have anyone else.
I have faith in Tom Lineham, he has only played 4 first team games but a couple of sides have already found him too hot to handle. However if he doesn't develop or we get a couple of injuries I'm not sure who can fill the gap.

| To be fair, worrying about who Hull are signing, takes Rovers fans minds off who's next to go in the Craven Park fire sale. Or who they are signing next from Batley.
At least Hull's NRL signings have played more than half a dozen games in the first grade this year.
