| one mistake is forgiveable, but last night it went crazy.. the first benefit of doubt try was dubious but you can see why it was given, the second one was just a joke, the second cowboys try was scored after a deliberate rip out of the ball by the cowboys and also in the second half the manly no2 grounded the ball in his own in goal area and just got up and ran and the ref didnt stop play, mr thurston was furious about that one but kept his cool..best team won the game but it was spoiled by poor refereeing

| no problem with first one, second was a shocker, missed strip was unfortunate but you can't get them right 100% without video ref (and even hen it is a lotto!)
MAnly were the better team but that Oldfeld try killed the game and the Cowboys chances imo. No excuses, there was two refs in the box, plenty of time and plenty of video replays that all showed 1. Foran knocked it on 2. Lyons passed off the ground when held. Very poor. Lets hope tonights game is decided by the better team not the dodgy refs!

| The second one was just unbelievable, it seemed almost obvious that Foran had touched the ball...just as the commentators had stated. Very weird decision that most probably put Cowboys out of the game....

| Sth's game passed off without ref incidents! Not a very intense game though. Hopefully next weeks will be a step up in class.

| Tbf it was a correct decision. It is the rule book that needs changing, not the refs fault this time.

Big crowd at the ANZ, the queue for walk ups was pretty healthy.

| Yes it was. Not enough evidence of separation = botd. Ball grounded with forearm = try. Tell me, according to the rule book, how the refs got it wrong.

| The separation was clear as ing day. You need to apply for a job as an NRL video ref. Blindness is a pre-requisite. Last week they were sacked for exactly the same thing - claiming there was not enough evidence, when it was clear. I wanted Melbourne to win but that was never ever a try and the fact that only the most deluded Manly fans and the two idiots in the box reckon it was a try says more about them than anything else.

| Well seems the video refs agreed with me! There was no clear separation at the time the ball and forearm hit the ground. It shouldn't have been a try but as the rule book stands it was the right decision.

| This is the frame the ball hits the ground and as you can see you can not tell if there is a mm of gap between his forearm and ball. Hence BOTD.
For me I would change the rule to:
1. A try can only be scored by the hand forcing downward pressure on the ball with some element of control
2. If you can not be sure give it back to the ref to make a judgement call, no BOTD nonsense.
As I said this should not have been a try but with the current rules it has to be given.
