| 20-0 down after 25 mins, then going from 20-12 down with 11 men to go 24-20 in front. Good win against a good Catalan side.

| I'd like Salford to get in the final play off spot. Their style of rugby is great to watch, and doesn't this now mean they've beaten 3 of the top 5? Has any other side outside the 8 done that so far?

| Salford are clearly purring in attack. One wonders how much of it is down to the influence of Sean Long, as attacking coach?
Their half backs seem to be the form pair in SL at present.

| that Moon and Broughton combo in particular is lethal. shame about their defence and lack of consistency, but could well reach the play-offs. a joy to watch!

| Sky should have been at Barton aswell it seems as the Headingley encounter sounded like a Wigan masterclass.
it certainly wasn't a game for the defensive purists!
a nice dry pitch and two attack minded teams not afraid to give the ball some air .
at the start Catalans used their bigger pack weight and the Dureau's kicking to storm into a 20 point lead,
most people including myself after 24 minutes were writing off the game as lost. especially when after such a dominant spell Salford finally got some ball and field position, Matty Ashurst was put through a gap, but blew a gilt edged chance to get points on the board by getting caught in possession with options to pass both sides.
however Salford quickly put two good moves together , Moon took advantage of wayward defence blindside to force his way over , Patten 2 minutes later slipped through a Gap to feed a supporting Holdsworth to touchdown under the sticks . 12-20 .
Shortly after, Salford were down to 11 men as both Holdsworth , then Vinnie anderson were sin-binned for airing their disapproval of some classic Ganson dodgy refereeing decisions, the whistle never far from his mouth for most of the first half with the count heavily in Catalans Favour .
down 11 men they survived a touchline assault for the final 3 minutes , then in the second half came out guns blazing
with Gleeson scoring one of the tries of the season after a scintilating length of the field break by Broughton. Goaled by Smith as Holdsworth was still in the Bin . it was close for rest of the game as Salford & Catalan swapped scores to make it a 2 point gap , with Broughton going in wide with 8 minutes to go to give Salford an 8 point cushion, Catalans hit back with score down the wing by Casty to keep the game on edge until Salford finally played percentage rugby to deny Catalans posssession to claim an astounding victory .
It was a enthralling game .
Disappointing to see Trent Robinsons Comments which really are disparaging of the quality of some of the Rugby Catalans Played , and a bit insulting to Veivers team who showed outstanding team spirit to claw back a 20 point deficit , score 2 tries when down to 11 men , then keep their heads to protect the lead to claim victory , In his eyes Salford obviously won because Catalans were out of form , sore loser..

| Good to see Salford starting to get going.
I agree that Robinson didn't do himself any favours slagging off his own team rather than showing some respect and acknowledgement of a great Salford performance.

| It's a very good result from Salford, particularly the manner in which they did it, but it's easy to get carried away. They were playing a team who are very poor away from home.

Not words that many Wakey fans ever expected to see!
Sounds like it was a great game though - would have made better Sky viewing than The Whino's capitulation to Wigan.
Chuffed for Salford - hope they can hang on to some of their key players and kick on next season.

Whilst I agree that they aren't as good away as they are at home (But not many are) to be fair they have won as many away this season as Saints, Leeds, Wire and more than Hull FC of those teams around them.

That's a fair point and when I say they've been very poor I mean very poor for a team who were widely tipped to be potential grand final winners this year.
I just meant that in quite a few away games they've been very disappointing. They've looked vulnerable away from home, particularly against Widnes and at times against London in Manchester and it wasn't much of a surprise for me that Salford managed to get the win.
Consistency still seems to be the issue with Salford though, and a small pack of forwards that perhaps isn't quite powerful enough to compliment the fantastic attacking rugby produced by the backs.
Pleased that they won though. The 'Barton Globetrotters' are definitely my second team.

| Would be good for the game for Salford to reach the playoffs and increase their crowds. A 5,800 crowd last night (with no away fans) isn't fantastic, but it definately seems to be a step in the right direction.

It was probably about 3.5k. Every game this season Salford have announced two different attendance figures this 5.8k will probably be scaled down later on in the week.

| Yeah I'm pretty sure there wasn't that many there last night, and as mentioned, it'll probably end up being scaled down - probably to a weirdly exact figure, like exactly 4000.

As much as I'd love us to become the next Wire or Huddersfield, I can't see it happening any time soon - solely down to the finances. A lot of people seemed to presume that moving to our new stadium would instantly see a big increase in crowds, and climbing up the table similar to Warrington, but its definitely the finances which seperate us. As it stands, we're not going to significantly improve on the pitch without an increase in crowds, yet crowds won't increase much without improvement on the pitch - catch 22. Who knows though!
Don't want to put too much of a downer on last night, absolutely great result . Hopefully we can squeeze into that last playoff spot. Nice to see other fans talking about us in a positive light too - and a couple of Warrington fans come in our stand last night

| I have seen some fantastic tries scored by Broughton on the highlights shows. How good or bad is his defence because he looks international class with the ball in hand and England could use as many options as possible.

That's his Achilles heal sadly, his defence is ok but that's the one area he needs to work on (although playing for us you can get exposed a little at times) but with ball in hand he's a big strong runner and once he's gone, he's gone.

I'm in agreement with KOTS here.
He seems to rely on his athleticism rather than being a natural rugby player. That said, Williams on the other wing appears more of natural rugby player and reads the game much better, but even he gets exposed. I think it's down to guys inside them getting sucked in.
