| Would think him and Pat Richards would be the leading contenders...
NFL could also suit Jamie Foster - granted the helmet may mess up his hair do, but he would have plenty of time to re-style it and wouldnt have to worry about catching the ball or tackling anybody

| As if it's that easy to get into the NFL
They would need to make a teams roster first of all if they impress, then they would end up on a practice squad if they had strong enough legs/were good enough, practice squad members don't get paid anywhere near as much as the big boys. If they were to make a final roster they would be getting around $300k to start with I reckon which sounds good but there's no job security at all for even the best kickers, sometimes they miss a kick on the Sunday and are cut first thing Monday morning!
If it was that easy I'd be doing it!

| Being a kicker in the NFL is p155 easy. All the kicks are from in front of the posts. Anyone could do it.

| Surely kicking in the NFL is the easiest job in the world? What a boring sport and what an easy way to make a living.
I really can't see him doing it though. His kicks in league are about accuracy, in the NFL it's about distance when punting and straightness and distance when going for field goals. I just don't see what benefit there would be for the NFL side, as he wouldn't be as good as someone who'd kicked American football style all his career. And I doubt there would be any commercial benefit to it, it's not like Michael Jordan playing baseball, his capture wouldn't increase revenue streams.

Yeah, but somebody holds it for them - all they have to do is kick it

They only look that way because of all the padding. If you are confident in your abilities and those of your tem-mate than NFL kicking is easy. Where the main problem is, is the pressure of that field-goal kick with 20 seconds on the clock. Kick 8 but miss that one and you become the most hated person in town.

Not to mention a good snap and a good holder if the snap is bad and at most outdoor stadiums its windy as fook or snowing all whilst being against the clock, easy isn't it?

Yes, 350lbs blokes only look that big because of pads, not because they weigh 350lbs.

| Would he be kicking or punting though? I would have thought anyone with good distance and accuracy would be great in the punting role. They're used to kicking in play under pressure and they can also tackle if required.

Very good point, a lot of ex Aussie rules players are punters in the NFL already.

| Several Aussies have done well in the NFL over the years, they have all been AFL players that can kick a ball longer than most and the odd Union player in the Forwards. (Colin Scotts)
Darren Bennett was a star over there 1995-2005
Ben Graham
Sav Rocca
Chris Bryan
Punters not goal kickers.
If they wanted Goal Kickers they would have snapped up plenty of NRL/ARL players over the years.

| The last thing we need is a RL star going to the NFL and doing well.
That would make 3 other sports all wanting to poach our players.

| Have any of you tried kicking an NFL ball at goal, it's not the same as kicking a rugby ball, similar but not the same.
The shape & weight (& weight distribution importantly) is different for one thing. All this about it being easy, for one thing it is totally about accuracy, if you miss you've furked up & you could be out of a job pretty quickly.
In RL there are few distractions for kicks at goal, in NFL you have 21 blokes milling around (11 of them deliberately aiming to stop you) plus the officials all in your line of sight, as we all know the kicks aren't dead straight and even those are missable by even the best. Lastly you have a second to take the kick, making sure to time your run up so you meet the ball a split second after it reaches the holder. You don't have time to pause, lining your arm up/silly walk up to the ball you've got to do the business instantly, under pressure in front of crowds/noise most RL players will have never nor ever experience as a professional sportsperson now tell me how easy all that is
I'm sure Sinny would be able to get the kicks okay but Icould he do it in that particular type of environ, I don't think he could. Tickle would be furked considering how long he takes, they'd be having an ad break before his run up..lol
