We had the Salford/Hull game on the radio last night and the Saints/Cats game on mute on Sky. What a night of rugby league! Can't remember an evening when both games were so close and exciting to watch/listen to!

Definitely the case that the more people we expose to the sport the better because so many people are hooked after their first game. Night's like last night won't do any harm either!

But last night was the exception, not the rule, franchising was partly supposed to remove the fear of losing, but ultimatly coaches and players jobs are on the line and that results sometimes in less attractive play ,

Roll on todays 2 kick-a-thon games which has the media cracking one off over it.

And wonder what Andy Farrell would make of it all

SKY viewing figures are on the rise, and if we keep serving up games like that, it will only continue.

Personally I think its been a great start to the season, with every team except Widnes looking competitive.

Just pointing out that too often we see % RL, possibly as a result of Aussie coaches stifling flair and concentrating on defence and slowing down tactics

It's not a balanced view, I cannot remember ever seeing you make a remotely positive or constructive post on this or any other forum. You purport to be an RL fan, yet you seemingly hate everything to do with the sport. It's predictable and embarrassing, and if I didn't know of your prior involvement at Leigh I would legitimately think you were a troll.

I personally didn't think the Hull game was that entertaining. Had we won at the death, I still would have thought it was a poor game. That's possibly because Hull played so poorly IMO and that's all I was focussed on though. The Salford fans will obviously have a different view!

I didn't realise you were ' stalking ' me round the boards , but having said that I dont think I recall you ever posting anything but gushing garbage about RL, maybe you are just balancing me out, your posts must be as predictable as mine , and sometimes just as embarassing, which leads me to believe you havent ever had any involvement in RL

Like the majority of your contributions to this forum, what you have just posted makes absolutely no sense. What is 'gushing garbage'? How does not being a perenially negative, backwards and delusional moron have any sort of correlation with involvement in RL? Maybe it did in the 1980's. Thankfully the game is progressing and people like you are being left behind.

People who invest their own time and own finances in the sport?
People who have the best interest of their club and the sport at a local grassroots level at heart, however misplaced you think that may be?

Suggest you watch more NRL (except Bennett or Bellamy coached sides!) if you think the Australian game is boring. Some of the try scoring last year was amazing.

It is reality though that as you move up skill levels you see less mistakes and less opportunities. Watch College Football v NFL or CC v SL. Both examples where the greater skill levels mean less scoring opportunities and punishment when you do make mistakes which is why a less risky game plan is adhered to.

Compared to more popular sports like RU and soccer, RL leaves them for dead in terms of athlatic ability, strength, courage and toughness and excitement. Why it isn't more popular will remain one of lifes unsolvable mysteries I fear!

Winning World Cup's and becoming dominant on the International stage is the path I see England need to attain to boost the sport's profile in the UK.

RU was struggling a bit prior to the 2003 England Team with the Grand Slam and World Cup and rode the boost all the way to the recent World Cup.

I was watching today's RU match in a Pub in the Midlands and not one person in the place other than me knew that Ashton and Farrell are RL products.
